Story
In the popular imagination, superhuman artificial intelligence is an approaching tidal wave that threatens not just jobs and human relationships, but civilization itself. Conflict between humans and machines is seen as inevitable and its outcome all too predictable. In this groundbreaking audiobook, distinguished AI researcher Stuart Russell argues that this scenario can be avoided, but only if we rethink AI from the ground up. Russell begins by exploring the idea of intelligence in humans and in machines.

We are approaching a critical threshold in the history of our species. Soon you will live surrounded by AIs. They will organize your life, operate your business, and run core government services. You will live in a world of DNA printers and quantum computers, engineered pathogens and autonomous weapons, robot assistants and abundant energy. None of us are prepared. As co-founder of the pioneering AI company DeepMind, Mustafa Suleyman has been at the center of this revolution. The coming decade, he argues, will be defined by this wave of powerful, fast-proliferating new technologies.

Bruce Lee is a cultural icon, renowned the world over for his martial arts and film legacy. But Lee was also a deeply philosophical thinker, learning at an early age that martial arts are more than just an exercise in physical discipline - they are an apt metaphor for living a fully realized life. Now, in Be Water, My Friend, Lee’s daughter, Shannon, shares the concepts at the core of his philosophies, showing how they can serve as tools of personal growth and self-actualization.

Story
Robert Sapolsky’s Behave, his now classic account of why humans do good and why they do bad, pointed toward an unsettling conclusion: We may not grasp the precise marriage of nature and nurture that creates the physics and chemistry at the base of human behavior, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Now, in Determined, Sapolsky takes his argument all the way, mounting a brilliant (and in his inimitable way, delightful) full-frontal assault on the pleasant fantasy that there is some separate self telling our biology what to do.

Drive carpool for her son Alexander? Not if she wants to do that story about Ukraine and interview the secretary of state. Like millions of parents who wrestle with raising children while pursuing a career, she has never been cavalier about these decisions.

Publisher's summary
If you can't trust those in charge, who can you trust?
From government to business, banks to media, trust in institutions is at an all-time low. But this isn't the age of distrust - far from it. In this revolutionary book, world-renowned trust expert Rachel Botsman reveals that we are at the tipping point of one of the biggest social transformations in human history - with fundamental consequences for everyone. A new world order is emerging: we might have lost faith in institutions and leaders, but millions of people rent their homes to total strangers, exchange digital currencies, or find themselves trusting a bot.
This is the age of "distributed trust," a paradigm shift driven by innovative technologies that are rewriting the rules of an all-too-human relationship. If we are to benefit from this radical shift, we must understand the mechanics of how trust is built, managed, lost, and repaired in the digital age.
In the first book to explain this new world, Botsman provides a detailed map of this uncharted landscape - and explores what's next for humanity.
Critic reviews
"In a time when people are doubting experts, suspicious of the media, and losing faith in government and business, Rachel Botsman is here with a lucid analysis of what it takes to build and rebuild trust. Trust me: this is a book you need to read." (Adam Grant, New York Times best-selling author of Give and Take, Originals, and Option B with Sheryl Sandberg)
"This book perfectly walks the reader through the past, present, and future of trust as we know it. Rachel's expertise on this topic is unmatched. It's an absolute must-read for business leaders and everyday consumers alike." (Nick Shapiro, Global Head of Trust & Risk Management, Airbnb)
"Witty... reveals some deep truths." (The American Spectator)

Very insightful
Some great observations on trust in the sharing economy. The examples from AirBnB and Blah Blah car were excellent. The whole bitcoin issue was a little harder to follow as I’m not a financial person. Overall a very interesting and well done book.

A must read
This is a must read for a young generation. Author did a really good job researching this subject. I have recommended this book to my children.

China bashing propaganda
it is the politically motivated China bashing propaganda content, carefully camouflaged by academic talks. it is mischaracterizing the Chinese government. Credit report is the western idea. nothing new. embracing capitalism, and criticizing the competition. total nonsense.
