In the remote mountains of Northern Alaska, Dr. Riley Middleton and her team of archeologists discover a burial site containing mummified remains dating to the last ice age. None of them notice the warning carved into the entrance or realize that the tomb had been deliberately sealed from the outside until they’ve already released a virus that turns ordinary people into murderous monsters. It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

Things aren’t much better now, though. In fact, things might have become much worse. Living off the land, foraging for food, water, even medicine, and being able to adapt to a changing environment…it all takes a special individual, with an exceptional skill set and determination to survive. Gus Berry is not that individual.

this is my favorite
Imagine my delight with another Orphan's book out on audible AND having the great voice of Eric A Shelman in my head. This by far is my favorite book out of the series even though I got my heart broken. Lots of action and things you never see coming. I was blindsided in White Lies for sure. As with all of the Orphans series on audible, I have listened to White Lies at least 8 times and will never get tired of it. I didn't think the series couldn't get any better but add Mr. Shelman in there and I am one happy fan.

Last in series for me
Although this is a good series I have a feeling the next in the series kills off my favorite characters which aren’t the main characters. Seems if you aren’t Shawn or Ellie, you are gonna get ate or shot. If your an adult those chances increase substantially. Shawn is ok but Ellie grates my last nerve so if the two rangers get killed off or any other characters from the last two books in the series, It won’t be interesting enough for me to listen. Rather leave the series while someone beside those two are surviving.

Story sucks you in
I love this series! This book, the fourth in the series, sucks you in from the start. The characters, though always shrinking and expanding, are well defined. This is not an author who is worried about killing them off, so remember that when get attached to them. There's a strong storyline and plenty of action.
The narrator did a good job, but his pace fluctuates a bit. At times, it was a little too fast for me to track comfortably. However, his voice is strong and dialogue realistic.

Home Run!
Where does White Lie rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This was one of the better zombie books for sure
What other book might you compare White Lie to and why?
Hmmm....it was a very unique book
What about Eric A. Shelman’s performance did you like?
He did a great job. All the different voices flawlessly
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I felt sorry for the kid who told the white lie
Any additional comments?
This book is part of one of the best zombie series I've ever read and it is quite possibly my favorite in the entire series. Which I might add, surprised me quite a bit. Typically, by the fourth book an author begins to run out of ideas. Not so here. This book ended up being the most compelling one of them all.
The characters in this story have been in this situation for a long time (three books) and have been stuck in a military base for a few months at this point. As one might expect, the teens get stir crazy and one boy gets this bright idea of leaving the base for the day. As you can imagine, this is a remarkably bad idea that stirs up a hornet's nest of trouble for everyone in the book, in ways he never would have anticipated.
I absolutely loved this concept. This is a completely real move, exactly what would happen in a military base full of teens (or even adults). A brilliant move, in my opinion. In regards to the over-all quality, this book is very human with characters that are complex and likable. The story is also fast-paced and unpredictable. A very enjoyable read, I honestly couldn't put it down.
The narrator, by the way, does a great job. He does a great job doing all of the different voices.

Fire the narrator!
I listened to the series back to back amd fell more in love with each added book. The narrator on the first books was the bomb! He kept your attention and he was into each character. This narrator coming right after the book prior is hidious! I almost shut the book down. The only reason I didn't is because of the first books and I was already entwined and needed to hear this next edition. Had I had to wait for this edition on audio I would have turned it off. Other than narrator the book is great!

Another amazing, riveting instalment of the Orphans, I was glued to it from the beginning of the book, and finished but in one sitting. Shaun & Gregg get into more trouble/adventures while Asian & Clary try to ride herd on their skinny butts, and Shaun discovers ingenious new ways to kill the turned. I can't wait to start the next book Civil War, and hear more Eric Sherman narration!
