Story
Lawless, British Columbia is on edge after a powerful earthquake jolts the region, quickly followed by a string of savage animal attacks. Newly stationed to the area after her predecessor mysteriously disappears, Conservation Officer Christine Moon needs to calm the jangled nerves of the small mountain town. A beast with a gnawing hunger that grows stronger by the minute - its only thought, to satisfy its ravenous appetite.

Story
They heard the earth-shaking wail come out of the trees announcing to everyone that he was there and coming for them. The forest dropped to a heart pounding silence leaving them suffocating for the familiar sounds of the forest. The wilderness around Redwood, Washington, is vast but it is not empty. It holds a terrible secret, buried under layers of myth and legend. A broken down fence stands alone in the forest to mark the border of the unknown - a line no man will cross for decades.

Story
An accomplished geneticist, known for trailblazing work with a gene editing technology known as CRISPR, is found dead at his desk in his South Florida home by apparent suicide. His jugular vein punctured with a foot-long T-rex claw. However, the claw is not a fossilized one. A simple note signed by the scientist reads, “I’m sorry”. A team of researchers and park rangers is hastily and quietly assembled to find out what it is he’s apologized for, suspecting he has unleashed a genetically altered animal atrocity into the wild.

Story
100,000 years ago the object hit the lake at the deepest point, quickly sinking into its mile-deep Stygian darkness. The sheets of ice closed, time moved on and the land forgot. But over the centuries, legends grew of people vanishing, of strange, deformed animals and of an unexplained luminescence down in the lake depths. When Marcus Stenson won the lucrative contract to create a sturgeon fish farm on the site of disused paper mill on the shore of Lake Baikal, he thought he had won the lottery and refused to listen to the chilling folktales....

Story
Something evil lurks in the woods, on the outskirts of town. It lives in the shadows and strikes without warning, always with the same objective: to mutilate, kill and devour its victim. A monster with a cannibalistic craving for human flesh and a sexual appetite which, seemingly, cannot be satiated. No victim is left alive, and the scattered remains divulge very little to the police pathologist.

Publisher's Summary
As if the cold wasn’t enough...
Fleeing an approaching blizzard, a military train carrying prisoners and a handful of citizens derails in the mountains. The survivors fight to stay alive and regroup as the terrible storm buries them in snow. Only then do they discover the train also carried another cargo - two cars loaded with biological experiments - genetically-altered sasquatches conditioned to annihilate anything they find.
Can the few remaining soldiers team with a pair of sisters and a police constable to fight the relentless beasts, icy temperatures, and escaped prisoners long enough for help to arrive?

Great story
A cut above the typical sasquatch horror stories that have become so popular over recent times. No zombie bigfoot, crazy pandemics or werewolves here just lots and lots of snow, a train wreck and, well ok, military enhanced sasquatch but hey, why not. I like the way each chapter is from a particular characters perspective and the characters are believable reacting in a way that's not outlandish. I see another review has stated that the narration is, let's say, ponderous but I didn't find it at all distracting or in any way detracted from my enjoyment of this audiobook. Highly recommended for the sasquatch loving fraternity or anybody who loves fast paced horror fiction.

Totally distracted by the narrator...in a bad way.
The narrator has me almost screaming with fraustration! I really want to listen to this story but the long pauses between each sentence and stiff reading style is a huge distraction. I am only 30 minutes in but am going to push on.
