When science fails her, only faith—and love—can save her.

Dr. Claire Donovan has built her life on reason, precision, and control. But when a freak lightning strike during a total solar eclipse hurls her from 2025 Chicago to the wilds of 1870 Montana, everything she knows about the world—and herself—comes undone.

Stranded in the rough-edged mining town of Silver Run, Claire's advanced medical skills make her both a miracle and a menace. After she saves a dying man using "impossible" techniques, whispers of witchcraft spread, led by the town's relentless marshal, Will Carver, who trusts neither magic nor miracles.

As suspicion flares and violence brews, an unexpected bond forms between the rational doctor and the lawman sworn to expose her. Yet every moment draws her closer to an impossible choice: return to the life she left behind when the comet's final alignment opens a fleeting doorway home—or risk everything for a love that defies centuries.

I enjoyed this story. I would have given it 5 stars, but for the following CONS:
1. A few inconsistencies in the plot.
2. The female character meets and talks to her future self; that was just unnecessary. It's asking too much from the reader -- to suspend belief further.
3. The author is a good writer, so she didn't have to use the name Claire -- associated with the most famous time travel series "Outlander' -- and made her a doctor too.
4. The computer narration was abysmal at best, but the story was good, and I was on a long trip.
5. I would have loved to know if Claire brought back any medicines on the second trip
6. How did the townspeople accept her return? This was not even addressed.

PROS
1. Well-researched book
2. Loved that the setting was America and not Scotland
3. Great depiction of typical ignorance for science -- very realistic for the time period.
4. Clean love story. i didn't miss the lurid details.

I will read more from this author.
