Author sounds like he's kind of a dick

The writing is condescending and the author sounds a little self-important.

Also uses outmoded phrases and sentiments like "put hair on your chest" and "whiskey is a drink for real men"

    Adequate.

Informative outline on the subject, though I would have preferred if the latter chapters on simple cocktail recipes and general practices for online shopping were instead used to delve further into aspects like flavor identification, building your palate, etc. Lastly, I recommend checking the audio sample to see if the narrator will affect your listening experience. Overall, reasonable at the price.

    too basic to pay for

If you have ever worked in a bar or restaurant with a bar. Even just frequented either consistently. Don't think you will get anything out of this book. Its more Ike whiskey common sense with 4 trivia facts in it.

    Finish this book!

The amount of times he says "Whiskey" in the beginning almost drove me mad, not a great start but still a really good book.

    Not the go to guide.

This book has some facts, some stories, some opinions...
There are far better books on the subject of whiskey that are just much better put together, are more interesting and informative, and have a narrator that doesn't sound condescending. My opinion.
