Publisher's Summary

Escaping her past is hard. Falling in love is even harder...

Teresa Bodnar is desperate for a fresh start. Scarred by her relationship with her cruel, controlling, and so-called "dominant" ex, she escapes to her hometown of Pittsburgh. Determined to move forward, Tera makes a bold move: Founding the first club in the city to act as a safe haven where her most secret desires can be fulfilled.

But acting on those desires in the wake of the nightmare she left behind is something else entirely, especially when unexpected romantic entanglements complicate matters of business. Since the moment they met, the chemistry between Tera and easy-going Dominant Eric Yun has been undeniably scorching, yet Tera finds herself denying it at every turn. She has baggage to spare, and the high-strung submissive can't afford to take any chances where her budding friendship with the sweet and dangerously seductive Eric is concerned.

Yet Eric has baggage of his own, and the more he chips away at her walls, the more Tera realizes it's not just the drugging allure of his dominance that calls to her. She's falling for him hard and fast, but if life's taught her anything, it's that the harder the fall, the worse the pain - a pain she'd do anything to save Eric from. But the harder she resists their magnetic attraction, the faster her resistance seems to crumble...

Note: This is the first book in The Loft Series and ends on a cliffhanger to be resolved in book two.

Content Warning: This audiobook deals with issues of anxiety, depression, and healing from past abuse. It contains mentions of emotional/sexual abuse and suicide.

Scorching!

Whip Smart is a fabulous start to The Loft, a new scorching hot series. The storyline is wonderfully-written, steamy, and very engaging with strong BDSM elements. The main characters, Tera and Eric, are well-developed, intriguing with marks from their pasts. When they do come together, it's beautiful, passionate with chemistry that's completely off-the-charts. Siena Noble has done a fantastic job with the erotic scenes, they are tastefully done and sensual.

Stellar performances by Meg Sylvan, and Everett Hwang. By emulating the characters' personalities, emotions, and connection, they brought the story to life. Whip Smart is a highly enjoyable erotic contemporary romance with a great plot, characters, and narration, which I will strongly recommend. I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook, and my unbiased review is voluntarily given.

mixed feelings

I'll start by saying that the narration on this was great. Both narrators were new to me and I would absolutely like to hear them again. The story was a little too slow for my liking. There were times that I was really into the story and enjoying it very much, and other times I would completely lose interest because it was dragging too much. I found it very strange that the female chapters were in 1st person, but the male chapters were in 3rd person. I felt that the switching back and forth took me out of the story. So overall a mixed bag for me.

Waiting for the more that will come....

Let's see if I can give you this review without giving you a recap. I will tell you this. You do not get the full story in this one reads. You get a story. Yes. But will it be all of it. No. This will end with a cliffhanger. Be prepared.

Living a life needing to submit is not the same as wanting to be abused. Someone in the story did not get that memo. Teresa was one woman needing to step-up for some that did not have that chance. She made a safe haven. She made something more of what she felt was needed. She was not expecting to feel so connected to Eric. Eric was not in-turn expecting Tera.

Narrators Meg and Everett set this up for you to want more.

Great read!

This author obviously educated themselves about kink or is a kink practitioner. Loved that he was an Asian American Dom; meet cute is at a costume kink party. Made the distinction of play vs play with sex. Liked that masturbation was a good part. Toys were a good part. While race wasn’t a huge part of the book, the heroine was someone at times who didn’t want to say the wrong thing because she didn’t want to make him uncomfortable(which she wasn’t always good at).

The heroine had trauma based on kinks she learned weren’t for her, so the hero was good at being patient and befriending her before they even considered a romantic relationship. He also had a bad past relationship so much of this was a slow burn. Both their exes were straight 🗑

I loved that they’re geeks; that was something I wasn’t expecting so it was interesting to see there was no way to look or have interests that automatically related to kink, so I liked that they looked like people and not archetypes for kink.

There was some awkwardness of heroine being 1st person and hero being 3rd. It made it feel like she was more important than him because I always felt like I was in her head but with him it didn’t feel like I was experiencing things the way I did with the heroine.

It ends on a cliffhanger but I know that so I knew the risk. I don’t always love amww(because ww tend to be super fetishy) but this is one of the better ones. I hope it goes in audio but I just bought the sequel in ebook so I’m hoping for the best. Loved that the author sought an actual Asian American narrator!

I voluntarily received this book via audio book boom and in no way has that affected my review.

Great introduction to the series

This was my first Siena Noble's book, and this is the first book in The Loft Series. This is a long and emotional story, slow paced, filled with drama. Teresa (Tera) and Eric share a complicated relationship sub/dom, and a sizzling chemistry. The storyline is a mix of heat, sadness, and happiness. The story ends with a cliffhanger. Meg Sylvan and Everett Hwang did a good job with the narration. I was given a free review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Super hot!!!

Whip Smart is Book 1 in The Loft series by Siena Noble. The first meeting of the main characters Tera and Eric is explosive, fulled with believable chemistry and really sets the scene for the rest of the book. The story has BDSM elements, but they are well-written and not cheesy at all.

I really enjoyed Meg Sylvan's narration. She has a strong, confidence voice with excellent cadence. Everett Hwang is a new narrator to me and while I enjoyed his narration of the character Eric, his cadence was a little bit off to me. It could be that he is new to narrating and just needs a wee bit more practice.

I really enjoyed Whip Smart. It was smartly written, with lots of chemistry between the main characters and the erotic scenes were very hot and tastefully done. I will definitely be listening to the next audiobook in the series

Very enjoyable

This is so much more than the usual club storyline. I love how independent the leading lady is yet she totally embraces her submissive side. She has so much power in her relationship. Excellent performance from both Meg and Everett.

Whip Smart - wow

A beautifully written and extremely engaging book. I totally loved it.
Tera a deeply damaged submissive and the totally hot sexy Eric the Dominant. The chemistry between these two was off the charts. The audiobook was absolutely fabulous it made the characters so easy to engage with the narration was spot on and very good. I really loved listening to this book it was a definite '10' story, characters, everything was top notch!! I can't wait to wrap my ears around the next instalment to find out what develops now between Tera, Eric and friends in and around The Loft. Great stuff!😍😍
