Two strangers

Cameron Dawson’s got a past he can’t seem to shake, but he’s hoping to change that. He’s moved back home to Faith, New Mexico, and taken a job as assistant sheriff. What he doesn’t realize is that his newest nightmare’s about to begin. Strange things are happening. People are disappearing, and for others, it’s far worse...

Distance separates them

Miles away in Albuquerque, Kyle Bancroft’s life is spinning out of control. She’s seeing, hearing, and dreaming things she can’t explain: flashbacks to World War II and an eerie hospital ward with locked doors, empty gurneys, and guttural screams. To make matters worse, a ghostly green-eyed girl is complicating her visions with an urgent message: time is running out.

A dark secret connects them

Kyle’s otherworldly encounters are driving her straight toward Faith...and right into Cameron’s life. The body count is rising, the pressure is mounting, and the clock is ticking as they rush to uncover a dangerous secret hiding just below the surface of this all-American town - one that’s threatening to destroy Faith and everyone in it. A secret they must hunt down quickly... even if it costs them their own lives.

A voice from the grave will draw them together

Nice thriller

Really good story. Performance was one of my favorites. Not your typical thriller, but great twist. Worth the read if you enjoy suspense supernatural thrillers!

An EXCELLENT read!

I should say "audio" as I have bad eyes. Which brings up the narrator, Luke Daniels. He, too, is terrific!

The Medium and the ...

Where does While the Savage Sleeps rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Top twenty, the narrator did a great job!

What did you like best about this story?

THE FIRST CHAPTER!!!!!!!

Have you listened to any of Luke Daniels’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I have. I have listened/read "The Lion, The Lamb, The Hunted, TWISTED (my favorite), Darkness and Shadows and now this. This is much more graphic -yeah!😁 TWISTED, well, the name describes it all, (even though he didn't narrate it) and Darkness and Shadows the best thing about that book was Bullet,(the dog.)

If you could rename While the Savage Sleeps, what would you call it?

The Medium and the.....

Any additional comments?

Great book, had me on the edge of my seat,. Not for the faint of heart! FIRST CHAPTER is a killer!

I love Kaufman!

Of all the books I've read that have been categorized as a thriller/horror, none have fit into the category as Andrew E. Kaufman's books do. I have been hooked on his writing ever since picking up the book Twisted which is by far the most...well...twisted novel I've ever read. This book easily gets second place!

There are two main characters living in different parts of New Mexico. How they are connected is one of the twists in the book! For the most part, it seems most of the plot itself is full of complicated twists and turns that are impossible to predict.

I have read the book and listened to the audiobook. I probably read the book too fast since I was so into it, but the audiobook was so thrilling, I ended up turning on the lights while listening in bed in the dark one night.

Despite what the other reviews say about this book this is by far one of my new favorite books! I don't think the other reviews are from readers who understood that this book has GORE and VIOLENCE! It's not for the faint of heart. I am stressing that this is a psychological thriller and anyone who's a fan of that genre, will love this book!

I was immediately swallowed up into the story, and did not put this book down until I was finished. I was so anxious to find out what was happening in the story, that "one more chapter" ended up in me completing the book in a day. I love Kaufman's books and hope there will be more to come!

The Ending

I think I liked the end of this book more than most of it. It was an ok book, I keep getting bored and just let parts go by without really listening and still heard what I needed to, to get through it.

So many flaws...

So many flaws...Spoiler alert!
1. Where was the FBI and it's behavioral response team?
2. The FBI does not have agents who speak and act like the one pathetically offered.
3. The triggering problem had been going on for years, decades, and suddenly, within days, it hits many people.
4. Only one line in the story explained why only one person in a family, each and every time, was affected. Not believable.
5. The story went into detail about the murders yet very little was written about the investigations.
6. Even at its worst, the government would never allow thousands of people to be so affected, over such a long period of time, and keep the program open.
7. What happened to all of those subjects when it was shut dow?
8. So much more of the plot could have been developed to give the story more depth. Instead it was just murder, murder, murder.
Very disappointed in this book.
The performance was good though.
