She’s a rookie cop with a dark past.

He’s a vicious killer with a dark future.

Their paths are about to cross….

While You Were Out a stranger broke into your home. You just never noticed.

‘But I’m sure someone has been in my house… They move things. Little things, things you wouldn’t normally notice, I suppose, but were put back in places I know I wouldn’t have done.’

Little things… A toothbrush not in its cradle. A remote control left on the arm of a chair you never use. A ring you can’t find but may have lost. Little things…

‘I’m telling you Constable, someone has been in my house!’

In fact, he gets closer than you think.

'You see, I’m sure I could smell him.’

So when you get home from work you lock all your doors and close all your windows. But it’s too late. Way too late.

He’s already inside your home..

A series of seemingly harmless break-ins across the Oxfordshire countryside take on a greater significance when a triple murder plunges the Thames Valley’s Major Investigation Team into a desperate race against time to stop a desperate and fearless serial killer.

In this, the first of a series of planned thrillers, we meet Detective Constable Lucy Lovelace on her first day on the job.

But Lovelace is no ordinary cop. She is young, fearless, feisty and determined. She has a dark past that explodes unexpectedly into the public eye as the investigation continues. But is Lucy Lovelace a hero or a villain, or somewhere in between? And how far will she go to see justice served?

The story itself was interesting, if a little long. However, the virtual voice narration was awful and completely distracting. The cadence of the voice was all wrong. There were several words, including the main character‘s name, that were pronounced one way sometimes and completely differently other times. To the publisher, please leave the job of narrating books to humans, and please pay them well for their work!!

The virtual voice narration was terrible!
