Awesome story!

This is an awesome story with great characters and a thrilling plot. The story was long, but there were several twists and turns in the story to fill the time. And the narrator was fantastic!

Not sure what the previous reviewer disliked this story so much. I found it thoroughly entertaining and well worth the credit!

Great mystery

What made the experience of listening to Where There's Smoke the most enjoyable?

The book is compelling, the narrator excellent. A bit of romance, no sex (I like intimacy in a story!) but I enjoyed the book anyway.

Great book

Wow! I really enjoyed this book. Especially the narration. She did an amazing job on every character. If I could give her more stars I would.
Just when I thought I had the story figured out it twisted in a different way.

Wonderful narrator, so-so story

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would recommend it, with warnings about its shortcomings.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I don't know yet.

Which character – as performed by Natalie Ross – was your favorite?

Bowie.

Do you think Where There's Smoke needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

If Sandra Brown were to write a follow-up now, it would be far better than the original.

Any additional comments?

This was a terrible book in so many ways, but I had to keep listening in spite of its many faults. The best feature was Natalie Ross's first rate narration. It went a long way in overcoming the book's shortcomings. I am a big fan of Sandra Brown, but this 1993 title is not up to her current standard. Much of it reads like a trashy romance, with a heroine who makes as many stupid choices as your average horror story stooge. However, there were moments that showed the author Sandra Brown would come. There were unexpected twists that compelled me to finish the book, even as I groaned at the cheesy dialogue and obvious errors in logic and facts. It was also enlightening to see how much our social attitudes have grown in the past twenty-two years. I'm not sorry I read the book.

Not the Sandra Brown I'm Used to

I thought the first few chapters of Where There's Smoke was written by another author because it was so trite--more like a Harlequin style novel. Although not the usually high quality of other of Brown's books, this took a turn for the better about half way through. Some "Brownian" twists saved it in the end. This is a good book to listen to when you need something lighter.

Held my interest

Thank you MS Brown, for again proving a romance can be written with a good story line without being just about sex. Expect an unexpected ending😅.

One of the best books by Sandra Brown I’ve read!

The narrator was amazing! I presume it’s one person cos the switch up on the voices to signify different people in the story made it so comprehensive. However, there wasn’t a long enough pause to signify a different part of a chapter which made it confusing at times but overall it was excellent! She was an amazing narrator. Of course, the story line was amazing with its twist and turns. 👌🏾👏🏾

Loved it

After reading some of the reviews I almost didn't purchase this book. Being a fan of Sandra Brown I knew it would have some redeeming qualities. So happy I decided to buy. Loved the story, characters, plot twists and narrator. Home Sweet Texas!
