Publisher's Summary

In this gritty sequel to Where There's Smoke, the past comes back to haunt Smoke Avery and Anne Phillips, and the choices they make will change their lives forever.

A father's work is never really done. Then again, neither is a lover's.

After a few ups and downs, Alec "Smoke" Avery and Anne Phillips have found a rhythm they can both groove to, and they’ve made a love connection. But just when they think they can finally settle down, their past comes back to haunt them in ways they never imagined.

Smoke's former flame is stalking him, and she's determined to have him all to herself. That's the last thing Smoke needs while he's trying to deal with Anne's emotional baggage and convince her that he's all the man she needs. Anne suspects that Smoke is still stepping out on her, and when things get tense, she decides to do a little stepping out of her own.

Away at Kentucky State on a basketball scholarship, their son, Isaiah, has become motivated to straighten out his life, but his nemesis, Hood, isn't done wreaking havoc. His sudden appearance on campus is jeopardizing Isaiah's scholarship, and his life.

Things go from bad to worse when, during a heated lover's quarrel, Smoke and Anne commit the perfect crime to save their son and themselves. When the smoke clears, truths will have to be told, and Anne will have to accept that she and Smoke are more alike than she cares to admit.

Terra Little takes listeners on a roller coaster ride of emotions in this story of a very real, very dysfunctional family.

Typical desired storyline, but off...

Typical in that it displayed black couple with dysfunctional issues but overcame the odds. But atypical in that they get away with murder. I mostly enjoyed it but there are cringeworthy moments where I as an African American woman was embarrassed and disappointed in the storyline.

great narration, reason for finishing book

Depth & storyline/plot not as good as first book. Seems like author used cussing, graphic sex , drugs, & vigilante murder to make up for lack of a good story. not my style, but narrator great.

Good…. Just Not As Good As The Original

There is no question that “Where There’s Smoke 1“ has to been considered an urban classic. The only question was whether the anticipated sequel would be just as great….. Not! Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed 2 but it just was not on the same level as the original. The sub plots were as cohesive and not as well developed. The narration was excellent and I loved when we were surprised with the baby’s voice at the end. Warning: Please read the original before this one; it’s good enough to carry you through this sequel.

Love It!

This book had my attention the entire read. It left me wanting more. Finally, a real depiction of what love can truly be without leaving out the real ness of drama, hurt, trust, and forgiveness. A great novel that made me smile while being disappointed the story had to come to an end.

I like the authors writing style and the narration

The narration was excellent. Both books were delicious 😋 😍. I couldn't stop listening... even at work.

Characters had enough depth where I could imagine each one. There weren't any "lyrics" being spat out like ghetto poetry... THANK GAWD!

This is a new author and narrator for me and I'm glad I stepped out of my comfort zone. I'm a urban fiction junkie and writer myself but, needless to say, I'll be looking for other books from both!

I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this one! Great job!

Smoke Ann Isiah

Excellent! What a great story! Glad Smoke and Ann work out their issues and became one. Was happy to hear Ann and her Mom plus sister Lavern was taking the first step to healing. Isiah was hilarious. Yes I would recommend this book.
