Publisher's summary

As a medical examiner, Serena Hopkins is used to dealing with death. But that doesn't make it any easier when she's called to the eerie scene of a murder - especially when Serena realizes that she knows the victim. Nearly as unnerving is the presence of FBI agent Dominic Allen, her childhood crush. As evidence mounts and points to a serial killer with disturbingly familiar methods, Serena and Dominic must work to find a pattern and stop the killings before the murderer strikes again. And when Serena's own life is at stake, she must decide if the secret she has been keeping has put her next on the killer's hit list. Can she trust Dominic with the truth before it's too late?

Hard to listen to

This has to be the absolutely worst narrator I have listened to. If this had been the first book in the series I would have never listened to the book. Made myself listen since it was the middle of the series. Can actually say after 4 attempts I finally finished.

Good Story; Terrible Narration

Like so many others, I struggled to get through because of the narration. The inconsistencies of the voices made it difficult to follow who was speaking, and often the tone didn’t seem to match the context. I finally gave up and opted to read the ebook.

Great plot HORRIBLE narration!!

The narration of this book was AWEFUL!!! The narrator makes the characters sound STUPID. Probably would have enjoyed the storyline more if the narration wasn’t so VEEY bad!!!!

Good Story

When a Heart Stops is a good story, unfortunately the narration made it almost impossible to finish. If you love a suspenseful romance, buy the actual book and read it for yourself or hope someone decides to do this one over.

cliffhanger....

Loved the bones of this story and how each novel in the series reveals deeper secrets and mysteries of the characters. Narrator was good but some voices and descriptive parts were a little rough on tempo and transitioning which made it hard to follow at times.

Get a new narrator please!

The story was very good, a nice compliment to the first in the series and definitely leaves me wanting to read the third book, but the narrator drove me nuts throughout the book. Her voices were either too similar or too annoying, and I even heard a lisp early in the book, though it somehow seemed to go away after a while...weird. I sure am hoping there’s a different narrator for book three, just as the first one was different.

Great book....very disappointing performance.

Would you try another book from Lynette Eason and/or Mia Ellis?

Love Lynette Eason's books. Would not purchase another book performed by Mia Ellis.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I really enjoyed listening to the first book in this series. I was looking forward to the following books; however, the person reading the 2nd book totally ruins it.

Was When a Heart Stops worth the listening time?

The story was worth the time. Narration nearly drove me crazy.

Any additional comments?

I wish they would either continue these series with the same narrator, or that if they switch, the 2nd narrator would at least take into consideration how the 1st book was performed.

Great story, bad narration.

I’ve got to echo the other comments. The story, itself, was captivating. Narration was tough to get through. I’m not sure if the voice was digitally altered or what happened. I would highly recommend re-recording it with a different narrator.
