Years after suffering the tragic loss of her husband, Ethan, which left her alone to raise their young daughter, Clare Murray still holds the last letter he wrote with the words "When You're Ready" written in his familiar messy handwriting, unable to break its weathered seal. Ready for what? He was her entire world, and Clare had accepted a life without him, without love. Until years later fate brings her to an emergency room and face-to-face with a stormy-eyed doctor intent on changing her mind.

Son of a billionaire, Logan Matthews has spent his life trying to make his absentee father proud. Without a family to depend on, all he's ever wanted is a place to call home. After a failed marriage, Logan believes he's unworthy of love...until he meets a woman who awakens his spirit and transforms his entire life in an instant. But how far are Clare and Logan willing to go for love? Can his love mend the pieces of her grieving heart?

When their love is tested, is Clare ready to put her whole heart on the line again? Can Logan learn the true meaning of love, even if it means sacrificing his own happiness? When a second chance at love is given, Clare and Logan learn you are never truly ready until you're ready to risk it all.

tried too hard and not at all at the same time

the background sounds are fine... the music was caned. didnt add anything... if anything it was distracting....
the voice actors were Killin me...
if your gonna do a production like this then get the girls to talk the girl parts and guys talk guy parts... at very least they should sound similar... and the chick was way to dramatic for the dualogue... oy!

Absolutely dreadful

This book is so bad I couldn't finish it. It's hard to decide which is worse, the awful writing or the abysmal narration.

Is there anything less than 1 star?

Would you ever listen to anything by J. L. Berg again?

No

What didn’t you like about Carly Robins and Scott Aiello ’s performance?

I was sent this title so I would review it because it has enhanced audio. This means it has sounds like doors closing and it included music at certain points.
This is not what audio books should be like. Besides the fact that the story was worse than FLUFF, the music was low quality and the sounds disruptive and irritating. I kept turning around thinking I had heard someone come into my house!
One listens to audio books, or reads for that matter, to use one's imagination. That is the beauty of books. This is NOT a good idea if Audible is thinking of giving this kind of production a go in the future. Really bad!

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from When You're Ready [Soundtrack Edition]?

Nothing could fix this book...

Silly and immature

This story is so silly and immature I could not get past Ch. 5. The narration is pretty bad as well.

Like listening to a movie without the picture!

What made the experience of listening to When You're Ready [Soundtrack Edition] the most enjoyable?

I like the back ground noises and music, it brought a little extra to the listening experience. What I didn't like was the longer than necessary pauses between chapters, other than that it was a great story.

No substance and immature writing.

Would you try another book from J. L. Berg and/or Carly Robins and Scott Aiello ?

Probably not - seems like a 16 year old wrote it.

What was most disappointing about J. L. Berg’s story?

How immature the writing is and how repetitive it is. Yes, we know when and how you met, it doesn't need to be written about so many times. You met - it was instant - move the story along now.

What didn’t you like about Carly Robins and Scott Aiello ’s performance?

He was fine - She was ok in parts then it would get all mellow and almost creepy and drawn out. I pushed fast forward a lot through those parts. She made Clare sound like an idiot at times - I'm sure the writing did that too, but the way she read it didn't help. (example - the really stupid physical line about getting a prostate exam done by yourself. That was so immature and unnecessary.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Annoyance.

Any additional comments?

The sounds I can do without. I mainly listen in my car and kept thinking my car was falling apart from the odd sounds on the tape - or looking for an emergency vehicle that wasn't there.

Emotional, Loving, well told

I read this book a couple of years ago and loved the story then. The audio version brought out the emotions even more. This version has the addition of music and sound effects, which at first distracted from the story but soon became a mood and tone setter for the scenes. There were a few areas where the background sounds overshadowed the narration, but not many.
Carly Robins did an amazing job in bringing Clare to life. Scott Aiello has just the right amount of sexiness in his voice to make you swoon from the first word. Both of these narrators are new to me and I'm so glad I found them.
I recommend giving this version a try. I really enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed.

If love finds you a second time don't let it go, be strong. Loved the love Claire had for Ethan. But sometimes we have to learn and let go. Really enjoyed this book.

Atrocious Language - wish i could return

What disappointed you about When You're Ready [Soundtrack Edition]?

I really wanted to like this book, the base of the story was good, i think a more mature writer could have really taken this to a different level. I tried to listen but the profanity was so bad i finally gave up. It could have carried itself without the language. Sounded more like it had been written by a high school kid.

What do you think your next listen will be?

not sure, maybe something from Catherine Coulter.

Would you be willing to try another one of Carly Robins and Scott Aiello ’s performances?

Maybe - as long as they didn't try and exchange voices from male to female.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

none.

Any additional comments?

had a good story line, just didn't pan out.
