This is one of those books where you don't really know what is going on or if you even like it until the VERY end. I spent 50% of this book being confused and trying to figure out what the author was up to. In the end I am feeling 50/50. Part 1 felt rushed, I would have enjoyed the relationship if maybe there had been more struggles that fed the connection but instead it felt like I was getting the cliff's notes of their relationship. Part 2 was good as long as I was only paying attention to the story and not dwelling on trying to figure out what was going on. The ending came together and I did enjoy what the author was up to but by then it was maybe a little too late to start loving the book. So I give the story 3.5 stars because I loved the idea just not the complete execution but I am rounding it up to 4 because I really enjoy the author's idea and originality.

The narration was great,all 3 narrators were a good fit for the characters. I love Aiden Snow and would love to see more audiobooks with him narrating.

WOW MARNI, THAT WAS UNIQUE!!

Oh where oh where do I begin.. and what can I 'spoiler free' say? Well, part 1 was told from Caleb’s POV and it will have you sympathizing, empathizing and sighing over the tragic events that led workhaholic adrenaline junkie Caleb and Nurse Whitney to meet. It was awful and heartwarming and touching as Caleb struggles - and Whitney is right there by his side helping and giving him strength and support. Their relationship is beautiful, their connection is undeniable and their love is inevitable. Part 2 is then told from Whitney’s POV and wow.. wtf.. a real doozy of a head scratcher as a very different story plays out and I tried to figure out the 180 degrees of it all the way through the compelling second half. All I can say is thank God for the Epilogue! Great narration brought the characters, the scenes and the feels to life. WORTH A CREDIT? Yes, for me, it's definitely a 4 star unique and pretty enjoyable listen.. where Fate and Destiny and a wonderful bff play a huge part.. enough said!!

I just can't!

When Ashes Fall gutted me, but I had no idea that this next book would totally wreck me. Caleb and Whitney from his POV was beautiful. I cried so much and my emotions ran so deep that I drowned in them. Gut-wrenching, tangible, true love born from circumstance. It was raw and real. From Whitney's POV, one more emotion came through...pissed. There was a moment where I was pissed at Caleb, but then guilt....haunting guilt that reminds you of how precious life is. And then, pure joy shined through and I was whole again. Hope said take a breath, I've got this! What an amazing read/listen. I'm looking forward to the third book. Ready for more beautiful torture. Three of my favorite narrators told this tale and they did not disappoint. I cried so much and I was so tore up that I messaged Marni to let her know I was not okay. Of course, I will torture myself and listen to the third book in this series. A solid 5 Stars Marni Mann❤.

Amazingly beautiful! Tissues needed.

Another hauntingly beautiful book by Marni Mann. I'm not sure what it is about her writing, but I am left sobbing after finishing her books. They are unlike any other books I have ever read. Loved Whitney & Caleb. Excellent Narration by Aiden Snow & Savannah Peachwood with Ava Erickson.

what if

wow, that was not what I was expecting but I loved the entire thing. Cue the tears. The story captured my right away and I wanted to do nothing else than listen to this book.

Original story

This was a story like no other that I've read. Whitney and Caleb's story takes a very unexpected turn. At times I felt a little lost during the story, but the ending wraps everything up so well. There are a lot of emotions in this story and the tears flowed! Ms. Mann tackles an emotional event that so many of us remember and puts us right in the thick of it. I don't want to say too much about the story since I don't want to spoil anyone's experience, just know that all is revealed at the end.

The narrators did a great job. I really experienced the pain that the characters lived through. They brought the story to life.

So freakin good! Marni Mann never fails to amaze me. Another great book and a must read/listen.

I have to say everyone should start with book 1 blind, because it will ruin how this series is inter connected. I really liked this one. I did enjoy the different POV parts, but by the end of the 2nd part I was confused. It took me a minute after the book ended to figure out what happened. Marni starts to pack emotional punches in this series and Im all here for them.

The narrators Aiden Snow, Ava Erickson, Savannah Peachwood are perfect for this series.

Emotionally satisfying

I am always listening to books. I enjoy most, as they are my escape. But every once in a while, one sticks with me. As one of my first listens of 2021, I can tell you, this one is the one that will stick with me for a long time. Marni Mann has captured my attention with her series about the Boston Marathon bombings. She doesn't sugarcoat the tragedy, but does find a way to capture your heart. This one lets us take a look at Caleb and Whitney. Destined to be together, these two meet on the day of the marathon. Whitney, a nurse and Caleb, a successful financial advisor, they are a perfect match. Mann takes us through their budding relationship and shows us how decisions made can change things on a dime. It's captivating, heart wrenching and beautiful. It broke me and filled my heart.

Written in three parts, Mann was particular in finding the perfect voices for these characters. Aiden Snow comes in as Caleb. His talent gives us a brooding, broken Caleb and he wiggles all the emotions into us. Frustrated, angry, and loving, each his nuances reflect every feeling. Savannah Peachwood is next as Whitney. Caring, happy and devastated, she made my heart feel everything. And Ava Erickson finishes the story out as Emily. The best friend gives us our happy ending and Erickson delivers. This story is written as if these narrators were in mind as Mann was writing it. A fantastic listen!

Enviable love!

Marni Mann ripped my heart out with Caleb and Whitney’s story. Caleb and Whitney had an instant connection that blossomed into an enviable love that others dream of!! They openly accepted, respected, and worshipped one another just as they were and loved each other fiercely. Unfortunately, they suffer more tragedies than the average relationship is able to endure! I must admit that I was confused 🤷🏾‍♀️ about what was happening about midway through the storyline and would still be scratching my head and trying to figure out what the heck happened if it were not for the epilogue! Fortunately they had awesome narrators !! Aiden Snow, Ava Erickson and Savannah Peachwood brought the characters to life with their performances!

Moving, wonderful

When We Met is a book with a main link to When Ashes Fall, and just like When Ashes Fall it gave me all of the feelings. Seriously, this is a story that is going to stay with me. It asks the questions, what would happen if you stopped to take a picture, ignored a call or took a different route. Would your life change for the better, would it change forever, or would it end. It highlights that a second of choice impacts the route that the rest of ones life.
I have genuinely shed some tears, then sat for a while just considering this story, and the reality of what happened that day in Boston, and the real impacts of that devastating day.
Yes, despite some of this series being based around a tragedy, this is a work of fiction, and Marni has an amazing talent for leaving the reader thinking what if?
The plot, without giving too much away, does address the question of how a small choice can have a huge implication. The writing is beautiful, emotional and moving and once again, this is going to stay with me.
The narrators, Aiden Snow, Ava Erickson, and Savannah Peachwood all delivered a wonderfully moving and thoughtful performance. Their voices worked well together and they all managed to put exactly the right amount of emotion into their narration.
