Publisher's Summary

From New York Times and USA Today best-selling author, J. Daniels.

The third book in the Alabama Summer series.

Author's note: When I Fall can be enjoyed as a standalone audiobook.

For the past nine years, I've kept my heart as far away from my dick as possible.

Those two can't be anywhere near each other. They don't play nice, and one of them undoubtedly winds up getting hurt.

Not my dick. My dick is good.

The women I take home know exactly what they're getting from me - sex. Nothing more. At least, that's what's supposed to happen. The sweet brunette from Kentucky I set my sights on tonight shouldn't have been any different. I had her right where I wanted her. Where I needed her. But when my past comes walking into McGill's pub, the woman in my arms decides to take things to a whole new level, putting me into a situation I never saw coming.

My heart is about to get f--ked. My dick can sit this one out.

Warning: This book is recommended for listeners over the age of 18 due to strong language and explicit sexual content.

"A hero to fall in love with & a heroine to adore"

There were so many funny one liners in this book that a few times I got jolted out of the book cocoon with a loud laughter. An enjoyable read. Not one to entangle you in it and drag you under but a light read. A heroine that goes after what she wants and a hero who is so irresistibly hot and heartbroken that he never wants to get caught and let go of his bachelor days and yet can't avoid this love. So purchase if you like a light and uncomplicated book that will entertain you but not own you.

THEY JUST KEEP GETTING BETTER.... SO NEXT PLEASE

Reed is handsome, charismatic, sexy and a total Manwhore who upfront offers a 'one night only' deal to women but he thinks he's got a good reason.... a heart that's been broken by his cheating girlfriend who he hasn't seen for nine years. So he doesn't do relationships, not ever, well not until his ex confidently strides into the Bar to gloat and the beautiful woman he was just chatting-up comes to his rescue. By giving him a kiss that leaves him speechless and then introduces herself as his girlfriend.... which starts off a pretence and a chain of events that'll change both their lives.

Beth didn't have a good childhood and was left homeless when her junkie Mother died which forced her to make a stupid mistake in order to get a roof over her head. But when she finds out she has an Aunt and Uncle who want her she never intends to look back..... but someone should have told her to never say never. She's sitting enjoying a drink in her loving Aunt and Uncle's Bar when a handsome surfer type guy, with a body to die for, starts flirting with her but things go from hot to cold when he stiffens (and not in a good way!) when a leggy bitchy blonde walks over to their table. Beth puts two and two together and knows, from his reaction, that this is his ex so she decides to help him out by kissing him passionately..... but the kiss leaves her breathless and panting for more - much much more.

Because of Beth's 'girlfriend' declaration Reed is committed to go to his ex's Engagement party with Beth who has blown his mind with their sizzling chemistry and lust filled thoughts invade his mind until they take their relationship to the next level. But, despite their instant connection, Reed is unwilling to make it more than friends and sex.... until he loses his mind and his heart breaks when Beth suddenly walks away.

This series just keeps on getting better and better, it's got a full cast of loveable characters who are made up of close friends and relatives (mainly from books 1 and 2), there's a 'mixed messages' storyline with fun, sex, a dirty talking Hero, passion and angst. Mia, Ben, Luke, Tessa and, of course, the sweet little Nolan all play a major part in the story and there's a tense and fraught with heartache chapter which brings out the best and worst in some of the characters. A secondary love interest who's sniffing round Beth leads to confusion and jealousy but the (plot's) climax comes when a frantic Reed, Luke and Ben go in search of the heartbroken Beth.

Worth a credit? Beth and Reed's dual POV love story is amusing, entertaining and totally enjoyable and is the best in the series so far. It could be a stand-alone listen and is narrated really well. Yes, like so many romance books, there are a few parts that would be totally unrealistic in the real world..... but, IMO, that's escapism at it's best which makes them a creditworthy auto download for me.

Ohh Reed, I just love you!

If you could sum up When I Fall in three words, what would they be?

Love, Hope, Life-Changing!

What did you like best about this story?

I love the development of Beth and Reed's relationship from the very moment they first met!

What does Stella Bloom bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The voice behind the character. Of course you can always imagine what a character could sound like, but there is something magical about a character being brought to life!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Love, Healing, and Moving Forward.

I fell

This love story was sweet, laugh out loud funny, and thankfully not over done. Reed hides his deep pain and Beth's one impulsive action creates a wonderful story. The narration was excellent.

My Favorite of the 3

I wasn't sure about this book because I didn't really like Reese in the other books. But I wanted to listen to this one and wow was I glad I bought this book.

I think it might actually be my favorite out of the 3 so far :)

I can't stop listening to this series.

J. Daniels has written such great novels that it's hard to not reread and reread and now listen to then. The performers make the story come to life and become hotter than it is in my head. Such a fantastic experience!

I love this series

This is another book filled with emotions and great writing.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings and lots of dialogues, I’m a addicted reader of these stories.

Characters descriptions is very good and the storyline is good although I questioned Beth’s decision at some point in the book, but what the h.... it’s fiction.

Great 5 star read romance with depth and passion.

Pretending has its benefits!

“I’m so in love with you I feel like I can’t breathe,” I whisper against her neck, trying to somehow explain the reason behind my sudden discomposure. ~Reed

Writing style: Dual POVs

Cover and chapter design: The choice to keep the male cover model’s face a mystery works well. I especially love the scroll chapter POV design graphic, the font style and colors which match the cover’s design.

Overall rating: ★★★★☆

Performances rating: ★★★★★ - I adore Stella and Eric as narrators! They have such great acting instincts and consistently suck me back in to the next romantic drama in this contemporary romance series.
•*¨*•
Story rating: ★★★1/2 - My favorite thing about this 3rd romantic tale in the Alabama Summers series was witnessing Reed’s growth. He’d been burned badly by his first love and opted to satisfy his sexual urges without emotional attachments. Beth won him over with her unique defense of him (a stranger to her at the time) to start. They did the fake relationship thing and gave a nice new meaning to fake it until you make it.

‘Was I ever really pretending?
This, with her, has always been different.’ ~Reed

Beth’s preemptive proposal to him was awesome, and Reed’s response to it had me smiling.

Up next in this series:
Fans get more time with the first couple Mia and Ben Kelly in What We Belong (Alabama Summer, #3.5). I’d recommend reading about how Mia and Ben first fell in love in book 1, Where I Belong before diving into Mia and Ben’s novella although it can be read as a standalone.
