Publisher's summary

When humanity ends, who will save you?

Four days after a mysterious electromagnetic pulse knocks out the power grid and unusual storms around the globe cause widespread devastation, the country crumbles in the aftermath. As Laura and her son Charlie embark on a dangerous journey out of Florida to reach her brother Tommy in Tennessee, a third attack sends shock waves through the Earth, causing earthquakes of epic proportions. As the United States spirals into chaos, survivors must decide what to do to save those they love.

Back in the Black Hills of South Dakota, John Sheridan struggles to defend the homestead as tensions rise between rival motorcycle clubs gathered for the biggest rally in the world and law enforcement. With so many lies told and secrets kept, it’s hard to know who to trust, let alone who to fight.

As unforeseen enemies converge upon the town of Deadwood and questions arise about Frank Olsen’s involvement in the Scout Miller case, there’s no telling what the outcome will be, only that innocent blood will be shed.

When Humanity Ends is the second book in the After it Turns Dark series. This high-octane, post-apocalyptic thriller with flawed characters explores the world after an electromagnetic pulse knocks out power when society needs it the most. No lights. No phones. No transportation. This captivating family saga reveals what desperate people could be driven to do to survive at the worst time.

When Humanity Ends

A pretty good continuation to this series. There are three separate storylines (FL/GA, TN, SD) that will likely converge at the end of the series. Each narrative flows smoothly and I remained engaged in the plots for the most part, though I wanted to spend as little time in TN as possible. I am most invested in the events in SD and it did not disappoint. It kept me guessing (and will until I read the next book), and eager for more.

Mediocre.

Coincidence and technical inaccuracy combine for a lackluster story. Narrator does great, as expected from Miles. Not enough to save the story.

Just meh

This series is okay. I picked it up on sale. The books are short and probably should be sold as a set of 4. The characters are fairly well developed. The motivations are not always clear and the distinctions between good and bad not particularly well developed. It’s pretty easy listening. The main characters are foolish and lucky. Side characters are fodder for the storyline. Just meh and probably forgettable.

to mugh hoping around

the book was annoying has it gives no details on how other countries reacted to America problems. The story had real merit of growth the chacthers where all following self interest and at times seem villainous and there lack of try to fix the countrt.
