Makes me want to read the series

I wasn't aware of "The Chronicles of the Nephelim" series, but now I want to read them all. This had been one of the richest books I've ever read. Full of imagination, solid research and truth. I'm glad that people like Brian are using their gifts to show us the mostly hidden storyline of the Bible and the"cosmic war of the seed"!

A scholarly examination of a fascinating topic

Brian Godawa is the premier author of Christian fiction. Like Frank Peretti, he has an uncanny ability to paint a picture of what is happening in the Spirit realm. In this particular book, he flexes his scholarly muscles and hits this ancient historical record unlnown to many out of the ballpark. Were their goants, or were they just tall people. Where did demons come frpm? Where did Jesus soend those 3 days after His death on the cross. These and many more mysteries of the Bible will become clearer as you digest this revelatory work!

Thought this would be more about the Giants

This book had all the makings of an interesting story but kept repeating the same passages of the bible and book of Enoch. It had its good points but at times was like a boring lecture.

Excellent

Great book. He did his research and gave references as well. I loved it so much I went through it twice. It heightened my relationship with God and the Bible.

i ve already hear from the previous series all the appendix and im pretty much convinced maybe with few ? marks that all of these are facts and all is for the final battle onto Gods Glory and those that have been elected by His grace to be part of His victory and rejoice for ever in His presence! Amen.

Was There A Commercial?

This is an enjoyable and informative read. This style is at times, point of fact. The intellectual honesty one expects in such a scholarly work is noticeable. However, I think of this particular flavor of honesty to be more like, “This is interpolation but I’ll hold to dogma.” There is certainly good content in this work. Though Dr. Michael Heiser is referenced a number of times, the style and content is in the same ballpark while yet miles away.
One thing that took it down a notch for me, is where I felt like there were chapter-long commercials pointing to the others other works. I felt the subject matter was an excuse to have a “plug-fest.”
Personally, I would have preferred to have been WOW’ed of my chair which in turn would make hunting down and purchasing his other works a no-brained.
I would revisit this work in reviewing nuances I’ve discovered, but would definitely not wade through the catalog list of other books the author has penned.
I like the guy, the content, but not the plug-fest.

Good book, but misleading description.

Generally speaking, studying a book in comparison to "ancient sources" means sources from that time and culture. Instead, this author uses ancient, albeit much later sources from a different cultural period to make his cases.

Furthermore, he makes factually incorrect statements about Tanakh. For example, saying that "sons of God" is only used for divine beings. This is a Christian belief, not one true to the culture of ancient Israel. See Hosea 11:1.

That said, it is an interesting take on an ambiguous passage building an alternative theology to the standard Christian view. Of course, some call the practice of using unclear passages to build theology "cult building". But it does make for an interesting read. It's also well narrated.

i needed more

After reading the book Noah Primeval this was the second book I purchased. Brian Godawa has a way of creating an explosion of questions as you read his novels. I needed answers and he provided the resources. When Giants Were Upon the Earth is a fascinating book for information. It is one that I’ve actually listen to multiple times and finally had to purchase just to satisfy my need for more knowledge. this book is not one that you will buy read and put on the shelf and be done with. It’s become part of my study toolbox. I highly recommend it along with all the other resources at Brian Godawa.com

Slow to interest, but worth the time and credit.

Pros: I found this book to have several interesting observations and theories making a convincing case that I hadn’t heard of in the past. Author extremely knowledgeable. Good Read Overall!

Con: Slow to interest in beginning
The biggest conundrum I had with this read was the author seemed like he quoted the title of his new book 100 times.
