An all-new angsty, dark, stand-alone contemporary romance in the Moments in Boston Series....

You never forget your first love...even when he becomes a memory.

There was before.

When we were together, when we were happy. When we had nothing but dreams. When not a single bad thing could ever happen because we were young and in love.

And there was after.

When the unthinkable occurs, how do you count time, knowing how precious it is? When dreams turn to nightmares, how do you wake up every day and choose to go on? When you have a chance to save another, how can you not?

Even if it changes everything.

Even if it destroys you.

A harrowing, heartbreaking dark contemporary romance from USA Today best-selling author Marni Mann, the third installment in the Moments in Boston series of stand-alones that explores the darkest nights and brightest dawns of the heart. A book that will leave you aching...and looking over your shoulder.

Angsty and dark, but an ultimately redemptive love story

When Darkness Ends is the conclusion of the Moments in Boston series by Marni Mann. While it’s technically a standalone novel, the reading/listening experience is greatly enhanced if you’ve read the first two books in the series first.

A word of caution... when the author herself describes the book as “angsty” and “dark” please take her description to heart. It is those things and much more. I thought I knew what I was getting into having read When Ashes Fall and When We Met first. I was wrong!

When Darkness Ends does have a beautiful and well developed love story at its center but the journey it takes you on is at times gritty and harrowing. I had to trust that there would be some sort of redemption for the emotional turmoil that I went through getting through this book. Fortunately, Marni Mann did not disappoint.

When I saw that Sebastian York and Maxine Mitchell were co-narrating. They were perfect as Ashe and Pearl. I think it was one of Sebastian York’s more powerful performances and really showed his acting range. Lauren Sweet is new to me and I thought she was outstanding in a role that had to have been incredibly difficult. I look forward to listening to more of her in the future.

Despite the pain and suffering found in its story, When Darkness Ends is ultimately about the power of holding on to hope and love in the bleakest of times.

OH MARNI MARNI MARNI, MY HEART BROKE

There’s no doubt this is a well-written story that flows backwards and forwards in time cataloguing the sweet romance of two young lovers in their College years with their hopes and dreams for their futures.. and chapters in the present where it’s a very different story that unfolds.. a gritty, raw, chilling, heartbreakingly sad story. However, I found this story quite disturbing and haunting with its tragic twists and I felt it was more a thriller than a conventional romance.. and I get that love prevails in the end.. but personally, it was just too tragic and traumatic for me. The narration was great and the two-deal female narrators does not mean there’s any cheating.. it’s just two different characters.

Worth a credit? For me it’s a no.. but this doesn’t mean it’s not a layered touching story, it just means its devastating dark side was just not for me.

No words!

Once again there are no words for this series! Marni Mann is still a fairly new author to me, but every book I have read is more amazing than the last. I really don’t feel as if the description of this book (or the series) really do the books justice. Ashe and Pearl meet in college and the love that develops is deeper than life. Life doesn’t follow the path either intended, but destiny has a way of working out. This book is a roller coaster of emotions, but it was worth everyone!

Trio of Pure Perfection SebYo, Maxine and Lauren

Sebastian York is my all time top favorite and Maxine and Lauren are incredible also. I watch the story play out like a movie visual so love how the story felt real while I listened/read the story today.

I just finished When Darkness Ends and it was a wowzer kind of story. I went into the story blind. I did know that Dylan would be a part of the story so a prequel to When Ashes Fall. He was a favorite character so happy that we learned more about him in this story. Loved the journey of friendship between Ashe and Pearl. There were parts of the story were I was a little confused by the before and after chapter headings. It would have been more helpful if there were dates as a timeline at the beginning of each chapter. I listened to the story for the majority of the day so loved SebYo, Maxine and Lauren reading the story. Then read the rest when I got home from work. Happy to be current in the Trilogy. Enjoyed the story as it felt so real when I was on the roller coaster ride.
