About this listen

When a hometown girl is brutally murdered, detective Scott Aylward vows to bring a killer to justice. His focus on the case further damages his failing marriage and reinforces the knowledge that he always fails those who matter most - his parents, his boss, his wife, but most of all the victims who expect him to bring them justice.

His search for the killer takes him back to his roots and crosses his path with the missing piece of the puzzle. When the shocking truth is finally revealed, he finds himself unarmed and face-to-face with the killer. This time, failing might cost him his life.

Maintained high level of interest throughout. Eager to listen to more by this author. Reader could have altered voice more from one character to another.

Good plot, realistic characters

Listening to the audio book had me fascinated with the story and wondering where it was going to take me. I never quite knew in advance who the killer was going to be and liked the conclusion. There were a few places I thought the story dragged a bit with too much detail among the detectives, but over all, a well written book. Not so great was the narrator - she did okay, but at times it seemed like there was an echo to the recording which I found distracting, but not enough to not enjoy the tale.

An awesome murder mystery

I really enjoyed this story and got swept along caring very much for the central character: Scott. This is not a fast paced thriller, more of a really good slow burn. I’m keen to read more from this author and hope for more of this character
