This story lingers

I first read this book about 45 years ago, and loved it. Through many years of merciless weeding out of books, it has remained in my library, and has been re-read from time to time. When I found it on Audible, I thought it would be interesting to "hear" the story as told rather than read. It •was• a different experience - but I still loved every moment of it and would highly recommend this book.

The narrator sounds drunk

Loved the book but this recording was disappointing. I could not even get through chapter 1. The narrator starts to slur his words by the middle of the first chapter?! So utterly annoying and distracting. Too bad for such a great author. Another of his books on Audible, On the Beach, has an outstanding narrator.
