One year ago today, Rose Hawk (AKA @RoRoMuffins) joined us to share her entrance into the Star Wars fandom when she, two months earlier, watched (& reacted to) the franchise for the first time. Since then her Star Wars fandom has grown and she has watched not just the Lucas Trilogies (The Original Trilogy & The Prequel Trilogy) but also the Sequel Trilogy, Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi the first 2 seasons of Clone Wars as well as a ton of other franchises.

Rose shares how her fandom has evolved, why Andor is a good entry point for new fans, her favorite star ship, her first light saber, and how the galaxy far, far away has completely transformed her life!

Rose Hawk is the creative mind behind RoRoMuffins, a personal blog and maker brand focused on thrifting, upcycling, and storytelling through fashion and design. From the first time experience of that far, far away galaxy in a drive-in to taking off with some Hyperspace Heroes, Scruffy (podcast host) joins us to share what does Star Wars mean to him! A fan since 1977, we cover Star Wars nostalgia, fandom culture and the saga’s enduring legacy.

We dive into why The Phantom Menace hits differently, IG-88 lore, the Star Wars Expanded Universe, the incredible work they do with ICCC, hunting down autographs and the one autograph he missed, what it’s like being a Gen-X fan of the franchise, rebuilding a vintage collection of Kenner action figures and playsets, hosting a podcast, fan experiences at conventions and of course his Five with the Force!

This week we chat what Mitch & Bailey meant to us, our adventures at Emerald City Comic Con and our Star Wars fan on the Street interviews with attendees! First we react to our Mitch & Bailey chat, sharing what we took away and were inspired by their Star Wars fandom. Then we recount our adventures in downtown Seattle for ECCC. We didn’t have to go to a galaxy far, far away to run into Darth Vader, Ahsoka Tano, Boba Fett (The Ralph McQuarrie version), and so many Imperials! We chatted with Cosplayers about what Star Wars means to them, did a blind unboxing of a lightsaber, got some cool geek treasures, visited The Star Wars Experience (a highlight for me every year) and hung out with droids and droid builders. Plus, we pull back the curtain on our Hayden Christensen photo op experience. And the whole time, it felt like the Force was with us, proving Star Wars is more than a franchise, it’s a community!

  • Cantina Chatter: Opinion Wars - How Does the Original Trilogy Stack Up?

This week we Cantina Chat with Brown Leader one of the hosts of the nerd-centric pod Hypserspace Heroes! First we chat our take aways from what Star Wars means to author Jendia Gammon (Vale of the Seven Dragons, Choose Your Own Adventure: Dungeon Crawl at the Haunted Mall). Then we welcome back Brown Leader to join us for Opinion Wars (a title that is still WIP)!

We all know the critiques of the Prequel Trilogy and the Sequel Trilogy, but can these same critiques be said about the Original Trilogy? It's Opinion Wars - where we look at reviews from the Prequel Trilogy or the Sequel Trilogy to see if those same critiques can be applied to the Original Trilogy! Using real reviews from the time of release and infamous internet comments we see if the same could be said about A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back & Return of the Jedi. Is there clunky dialogue? Wooden acting? A "Mary Sue"? Can some of the harshest critique actually describe the holy trinity of trilogies?
