Detective West Grayson of the New Orleans Police Department is no stranger to violent crime, but nothing prepares him for the ritualistic murders haunting the city. When a series of bodies appear, each staged with chilling precision, beeswax poured over their flesh, ancient symbols etched into their skin, and a pentagram carved into their foreheads, West is drawn into a sinister mystery rooted in the occult.
With the help of his partner, Detective Calvin Pounds, West follows a trail of cryptic clues that leads them to a forgotten church hidden deep in the New Orleans history. Inside its crumbling walls, they uncover symbols older than Christianity and the remains of Julia, a young woman who willingly sacrificed herself in a desperate attempt to stop an ancient evil from returning. As West and Cal dig deeper, they enlist the help of historians and archaeologists to decipher a leather-bound book filled with arcane knowledge and a mysterious medallion linked to a long-buried cult.
The closer West gets to the truth, the more personal the case becomes. His fiancée, Sadie, a psychologist, provides emotional insight, but even she can’t shield him from the spiritual weight of what they’re uncovering. As the killer strikes again under the city’s bridges, it becomes clear the crimes are not random, they are part of a prophecy.
Time is running out. The symbols are evolving, the rituals growing bolder, and West must confront not only a killer but an ancient darkness determined to rise again.
