It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

On the planet Tython, the ancient Je’daii order was founded. And at the feet of its wise Masters, Lanoree Brock learned the mysteries and methods of the Force - and found her calling as one of its most powerful disciples. But as strongly as the Force flowed within Lanoree and her parents, it remained absent in her brother, who grew to despise and shun the Je’daii, and whose training in its ancient ways ended in tragedy. Now, from her solitary life as a Ranger keeping order across the galaxy, Lanoree has been summoned by the Je’daii Council on a matter of utmost urgency.

Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Publisher's summary
The tower has fallen. Survivors are scattered, scrambling to find safety and each other. The rest of the world comes into view as the threats continue to evolve. Elements of strength and hope start to emerge - but at what cost?
We’re Alive: Season 3 features 12 chapters packing performances and sound effects that rival movies and prove that modern audio drama is undead and well. Join our survivors as they band together, struggle to fortify a safe haven, and discover that zombies are far from the worst thing in a postapocalyptic world where the rules of human decency no longer apply.
Little food, little water, little hope - who is lucky enough to say, "We’re alive"?
Critic reviews
"We’re Alive is a modern rendition of an old-school medium. Maintaining a style that is both retro and contemporary, the radio drama will give horror fans the campy, kitschy style they like, but it also provides a variety of characters and development to keep general audiences engaged.… Despite not being able to see the action, the excitement and intensity is still sustained through score and sound design. In some ways, the lack of visuals to accompany the audio creates more suspense. The narrator controls how much the audience knows, slowly teasing out information. Accompanying the drama are sparse moments of comedic relief.… Expressing a keen awareness of the zombie subgenre, many of the jokes come from familiar scenarios and tropes of zombie stories." Once upon a time, in the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel's performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop. Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel's the resident pariah of the magic realm. And what’s worse, the dark wizard Tybus swooped in, took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his tyrannical rule.

Decent story, butt...
I would have loved to give the book, and the series an additional star, but the constant bickering between the majority of all the main characters is just a little too much. I can appreciate the stress and fear that would go along with a zombie apocalypse but the way the characters bicker back and forth comes off as very immature and childish. The story and the performances are pretty good and I do like the original take on the zombie apocalypse, so if you can get past the bickering and have a credit burning a hole in your pocket this is a decent selection.

One of a kind!
I've listened to the podcast since the beginning and still say it's worth every credit to get this fantastic story in this format. Much easier to listen to without all the breaks that you get in the podcast. The story and performance? Couldn't be better!
I REALLY hope someone follow in the footsteps of this ground breaking audio drama/theater! It's epic!!

Best zombie audiobooks I've listen to.
Would you listen to We’re Alive again? Why?
All of the season are amazing. Great job to the team. Can't wait for the next season.A movie would be Awesome!
What other book might you compare We’re Alive to and why?
Also listened to War Z. The voice acting on these series are far better.
Which character – as performed by full cast – was your favorite?
Burt and Chinwe are my favorite. Hope they come back and kick more butt. Scratch really did a good job getting under your skin.Everyone else also did an amazing job. Hats off to everyone.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The characters are pretty believable. Despite the idea that they were not the smartest survivors. They had a lot of luck to make it through.
Any additional comments?
You guys are at the top of my list for survival audio drama. Thank you for cutting my 6hr daily commute down.

The story is getting better.
Ill keep this short. The third season is way better than season 2. Great set up for season 4. I call this a decent story and it will definitely entertain the listener. But i could use some more zombies. Where did they come from and why?!!

Glad season three is here!
If you could sum up We’re Alive in three words, what would they be?
GREAT ZOMBIE STORY! I found this podcast originally on Audible when they put season 1 on audible without the commercials that are in the podcast. I listened to season 3 as the podcast because they didn't have it up on audible yet. Now that they have it, I'm listening to it the 2nd time and it's even better!
What was one of the most memorable moments of We’re Alive?
The last chapter when the characters are fighting 2 fronts and it seems they are going to loose. It's an amazing story and I can't wait to hear the 4th and last season!
Have you listened to any of full cast’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I had listen to this cast's performance in the other two season's of We're Alive. The cast is very awesome and you seem to get a mind's picture of each character, what they look like and their personality.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! But, you just can't do it in my field unless you are on a very good stretch of highway with not a lot of traffic and no stops.
Any additional comments?
Like I said before, I can't wait til they start the 4th season this fall, and I'll listen to the podcast, but I'll purchase it again when it becomes available on Audible. Thanks Audible!

Characters are improving
I told them to shut up less this season. The buttholism is truly brought out in people without laws as well as military officers. The actors portrayed these parts well. And Scratch plays are part so well that I curse her every time she speaks. She’s that irritating and grating; which brings me to what I hate about this series. I oftentimes have to lower and increase my volume to because the the scenes go from people screaming and yelling to just talking or loud shooting in your ear to just talking. You want to hear the dialogue but then the next minute, you’re threatened with hearing loss. I don’t get it. The producers should consider that.

An Exciting Follow Up to the First Two Seasons
We’re Alive the Third Season really is an amazing continuation of Michael and the other survivors. In the third season we see it pick up we’re the 2nd season left off. Then a little way through see a time jump. The plot keeps the listener engaged as well as excited to see what will happen next to our cast of characters. While the drama and action weren’t as well done as say in the first two seasons it was still masterfully crafted to keep not just the plot going but downright suspenseful at times. The cast that does the voices for the characters are back and do a great job in the third season. The sound effects and music is also very well done. All in all I would say the third season sits right next to the greatness of the first two seasons. I would recommend We’re Alive the Third Season to any fan of the series as well as anyone who likes audio dramas or well written zombie stories.

cast is unbearable
story and take on the apocalypse is great. very captivating. however the characters are always fighting and being hypocritical a-holes. Michael is the biggest hypocrite ever. very unlikable as with all the other characters. everything anyone says receives a negative response. super annoying...had to stop

Painful Listen
I really tried to like this story but the constant immature bickering between main charecters broke my ability to finish. People die and the next sentence its jokes and flirting. Terrible acting with sarcasm when the story doesn't fit the situation.
