Publisher's summary

In this irreverent wedding guide, MTV’s wedding planning guru and star of Girl Code, comedian and bride-to-be Jamie Lee, offers practical advice and hilarious insights on how to stay sane while planning your "big day".

What was once a beautiful celebration of a couple coming together for a lifetime of happiness has become a bit ridiculous, complete with the whimsical monogrammed mason jars and unconventional photo shoots. The Epic task of creating that special event can be nightmarish - a dizzying maze of minutiae and seemingly endless choices that might tempt you to say yes to a quickie drive-through chapel in Vegas.

But weddings don’t have to be stressful. You don’t have to give in to the crazy - or give up completely. Famous funny gal Jamie Lee learned much more than she counted on pulling together her own wedding, and in Weddiculous she shares her first-hand experiences and hilarious hard-won insights with every girl who just said "yes".

Jamie gives you the real low-down, puts the madness into perspective, and walks you through the process step-by-step in a calm, realistic, and highly entertaining way. Weddiculous includes helpful checklists, timelines, and suggestions on everything from what questions to ask vendors to how to handle difficult bridesmaids to what’s worth the extra cost (and more importantly, what’s not).

Throughout, Jamie provides guidance on when you should trust your gut and when you need to listen to others. What Amy Sedaris has done for hospitality and crafting, Jamie Lee now does for weddings. Weddiculous will help remind you what’s really important about your wedding day: it’s just the first day in a long and happy marriage.

Critic reviews

“I wish I had this book when I got married because it’s not one of THOSE bridal books. I mean it’s A bridal book but not one of THOSE bridal books. You know what I mean?” (Rachel Bloom, Golden Globe-awarded actress, star of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend)

“Single? Read this book. Engaged? Read this book. Your wedding’s next week? Read this book. Getting married in an hour? Read half of this book.” (James Cordon, host of The Late Late Show)

“Every bride should read comedian Jamie Lee’s uproarious and relatable wedding guide, Weddiculous. Filled with practical advice about wedding planning and plenty of personal wit and humor, this unconventional handbook will put the big day in perspective for even the most stressed out bride.” (Bustle)

Fanfreakingtastic!!!!

My wedding planning thus far has had its ups and downs and nothing terrible. *hint: be a little flexible, things just work out so much happier in the day to day planning that way. BUT stress is like city smog oxygen when wedding planning no matter how smoothly it all goes! You don’t want it, you can’t avoid it, it’s almost like you need it to keep you moving along. This book totally drops the stress levels and clears the air! It gives you someone that is real and gets it! You’ll feel ready to don the “been there done that” t-shirt just by vicariously going through the wedding process with the authors! Loved every minute and so did my fiancé!

Everything I needed to hear 2 months before my wedding

I’ve been such a fan of Jamie Lee for years. When I heard she wrote with this book, I knew it was going to be funny, relatable, and validating before I even started. Jamie spoke to me in a way the helped me get through this time in my WPP more than anyone else has thus far, and for that I am incredibly grateful.

Honesty I needed to hear a month before my wedding

Honest, funny, & reassuring just when I needed it to be. Hearing Jamie Lee voice her own words is the only way to hear this book; I'm so glad she narrated it herself.

Really fun

Jamie Lee is super entertaining. This is a fun and light-hearted read. Content warning: Chapter 9 talks about dieting for your wedding. The author is truthful and doesn’t condone our thin-obsessed culture, but if you struggle with body issues, this portion might trigger/reinforce some unhealthy thoughts. Overall I’m glad I listened though. I love comedy and since I’m recently engaged it was nice to hear about this stage of life from a funny bride. It’s a seriously needed perspective in a world absurdly fixated on wedding perfection.

I needed that.

I picked this up a little too late, but I needed it anyway. I wish I had read it upon immediately starting wedding planning.

There were a lot of family parallels between Jamie and I and I wish had I heard her take on how to handle things before I started handling things in my stubborn, you-said-you-weren't-going-to-invite-these-people-MIL-why-are-you-now-inviting-them-without-telling-us way.

Her humor was refreshing and honestly, I love that she tells you to throw the wedding you want to have while pointing out whatever flaws there are because you should be able to throw whatever wedding you want. It's just nice to hear someone who has been through it say it.

She is a little bit out of touch - going above $500 for a wedding dress wasn't an option. $1000 or over was a dream/nightmare.

Perfect

So funny. Jamie says it like it is, grounding you and cheering you on. The best bridal coach I've heard. Excellent advice and so much to relate to. I can still hear "Big Bridal says...".

Perspective for wedding planning drama

You get engaged and dive into all the wedding books and magazines and wonder how you’re going to put on a 50k party on a 3k budget and despair. Jamie puts a hilarious perspective on the whole wedding industry and how you DONT have to buy into everything they say you have to do.

Therapeutic for the Bride to Be

This book is flipping fantastic. I’m about 2 months out from my wedding and 90% of what Jamie experienced is EXACTLY what I have been going through. Her humorous spin on an overly stressful day is magnificent - and I’m not gonna lie - I’m already thinking about listening to it again. 11/10 recommend. And Jamie - if you’re reading this, I have enough zingers to make book 2
