The co-working company WeWork was the poster child for a new economy. It was born in New York City from the ashes of the Great Recession, WeWork’s founders wanted to change not just the way people work, but how they live, sleep, and even raise their children. Its charismatic founder Adam Neumann had an intoxicating vision for the company -- but did it ever match the reality? Hosted by David Brown of Wondery’s hit podcast Business Wars, WeCrashed is a six-part series about the rise and fall of WeWork. It’s a story of hope and hubris, and pulls back the curtain on the lengths certain people will go to chase “unicorns.”©2024 Wondery (P)2024 Wondery Ciencias Sociales Economía Política y Gobierno

The founders of WeWork thought they were on the brink of making history. The company was valued at $47 billion dollars, ready for a huge IPO, and its charismatic CEO Adam Neumann believed he was going to change the world. Adam and his wife Rebekah had a prophet-like vision—but did it ever match the company's reality? Now the inspiration for a new AppleTV+ series starring Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway, WeCrashed: The Director’s Cut is a complete refresh of our original six-part series. Hosted by David Brown of the hit podcast Business Wars, this six-part series includes new interviews and new discoveries about the rise and fall of WeWork. It’s a story of hope and hubris, big money and bigger screwups, and the lengths people will go to chase “unicorns". You can binge all episodes of WeCrashed exclusively and ad-free on Wondery+. “Let’s build the largest networking community on the planet.” That was the email Adam Neumann sent at 1am to one of WeWork’s very first employees, before they had even a single tenant. So how do you turn a scrappy startup into a global empire? If you’re WeWork's CEO, you rely on charm, chutzpah, and a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black. I loved this podcast. Well narrated & I like that things were explained. I'm not business savvy so that helped.

Excellent podcast

This was an account of the fast rise and spectacular fall of WeWork. It actually lost more investor money than the failures of Enron and GE. An interesting idea and a tyrannical CEO led employees and investors on a roller coaster ride that left many disappointed . Adam himself left with millions.

WeWork was actually He Worked Everyone Over
