Story
A debilitating virus emerges in India and quickly burns its way through the densely populated areas of Asia. The victims suffer for days even weeks on end until finally succumbing. Streets are empty and major cities are mere graveyards. Because of the slow killing nature of the virus, attempts to contain it to one continent seemingly work at first, but human smuggling into infection-free areas cause the virus to break borders globally.

Story
In a small Montana town, it takes four minutes for every man, woman, and child to die. It isn’t a virus or biological attack, but rather the beginning of a geological event that triggers a chain reaction across the globe with devastating effects. A repeat of an extinction event that occurred millions of years earlier. There is no stopping it. The only way to survive is to stay ahead of it. Tom Foster hasn’t flown in decades, yet, he sets his fear aside for a vacation with his grown sons.

Publisher's Summary
It happens on a routine red-eye from Las Vegas to New York. Just as the plane breaks the early morning sky, in a blink of an eye, 144 passengers onboard flight 6520 die. There is no rhyme or reason. Experts scramble to find an explanation on how and why those on Flight 6520 met their demise so quickly and violently.
It is hurriedly explained as a terror attack to the public, but General Buford Cane knows better. He has spent his entire career dedicated to the investigation and prevention of globe-threatening events. Behind the scenes, authorities are baffled as to what has happened, and against the General’s warning, they soon dismiss it as an isolated phenomenon.
He knows there's more. The plane and the death of the passengers are a prelude to something much bigger. An event is on the horizon. An anomaly that can and will wipe out every single living being from the face of the Earth. Extinction is imminent unless something is done.
There is no way to stop it. Time is running out. The only option that General Cane has is to devise a way to save as many people as possible before the event occurs. It is his mission to stop the human race from meeting the same fate as those onboard Flight 6520. A mission he cannot fail.

The best disappearance act
This audiobook will catch you from the beginning and not let you go. It is pretty awesome! I love that it takes place in Cleveland and other local communities around that area as many post apocalyptic books take place in the larger cities not Cleveland. I found it fascinating that our main characters are neighbours in a semi detached to each other and knew hardly anything about each other. It got me to thinking how many people throughout the world actually live like this. At times, I also laughed at the government and how they were reacting through this whole thing. However, I thought it was quite realistic. I found that we knew little about our main characters and I like that. This audiobook was more about the disappearance and the science fiction rather than the characters. I loved the landscape built by the author and continued along by the narrator rather than the characters. This was my second or third book listen to by this narrator and it was awesome! His voice is so great. He did a great job voicing our characters while also lending a shoulder to the authors universe. This was a short and great listen for me. Do yourself a favour if you’re a post apocalyptic and conspiracy lover and pick this one up because you will fly through it and also love it.

Great Story
As a plane is landed by the first officer with all aboard are deceased. What happened to them. As some of the family meet while waiting to find out what happened they become close and are determined to find out what happen. This was a great listen. Well worth the credit.
This book was given to me for an honest review.

Loved it
I loved this story back in the 80s and I love this expanded re-imagining. It's definitely more than the cult classic so if you want to re-visit Night of the Comet and see where the story goes, this is a must have. Recommended.
I did find the narrator read too quickly so listened to it at 0.90 speed and that worked well.

Good apocalypse book
This is your normal end of the world book in a lot of ways. It's an enjoyable read. The plot moves along quickly, as it is less than 6 hours long. The narrator is great. There were several points where I thought descriptions of death got a little too graphic, but horror isn't my normal read.

We who remain
This is a natural disaster book with a twist.
It is a very quick listen but it is a standalone. There is plenty of action, suspense and intrigue that has you listening till you get to the end.
It's told from multiple points of view and plenty of people die.
It is not a perfect book, however, I decided to give it five stars, since the author had me eagerly listening to it from beginning to end and for that the book, in my opinion, deserves five stars.

Good but not great like the other audiobooks
This was good but something I hate when authors write and just leave you hanging at the end of the book. In some ways it felt a bit rushed and not thought out as before. The characters were good but you really never got to know them before or after their death. The storyline was based on if a comit came near or hit earth what would happen to the people and planet if the tail of the comet had a virus or an agent harmful to human and animals. In this story the comet tail have a agent in it that was deadly and when crossed over the US and other countries people and animals got infected and they either dissolved completely or the parts the was outside when the comet crossed. There is three comets coming to or near earth one that hits and two who causes the major issues but problem was with audiobook was the author did not really go into details on how the planet was effected or really into what happen going on or around the other two comets. There is people dieing in horrible ways and the storyline of this is completely short and really not told just bit here bits there. There was way to many storylines and really none were connected or they just was dropped and the listener left hanging trying to put it all together and the ending of the audible was that way the listener just left hanging not sure what is happening.
So now you see why this book got low ratings in stars when I finished listening the main storyline and the many other storylines were never really and the story was in some ways a flop if it had been written better and thought out better it would have been an awesome audiobook.
