"Seamlessly melding the essences of The Expanse and Andor, Waypoint Eclipse hooks the reader from the start and whisks them off into a grand saga." — Michael A. Stackpole, New York Times bestselling author of I, Jedi and Rogue Squadron

"When space salvager Shep agrees to a routine mission exploring an outpost facility on Earth’s old moon that was destroyed one thousand years before, nothing prepares him for the insidious evil that lurks within the ruins. What horrors happened here a millennium ago and what secrets remain? Character-driven, clever, and compelling, WAYPOINT ECLIPSE is an epically good science fiction thriller. Using a dual timeline and several perspectives, Christopher Buchheit has written an intelligent and gripping narrative full of action and emotion which proves difficult to put down." -IndieReader.com

In Chris Buchheit's latest science fiction/horror novel, Waypoint Eclipse, deep vulnerabilities and dark secrets weave an intricate tale across a millennium. This space exploration thriller delves into the very core of human nature, revealing the poignant and sometimes terrifying lengths to which we'll go for survival and redemption.

~3050 A.D. - Earth is long gone. Humanity is scattered among the stars. Desperate to redeem himself and secure his daughter's future, Shep risks everything on a perilous journey to the ancient, decrepit Waypoint lunar station. But this mission, known for its deadly reputation, quickly turns into a fight for survival. Isolated and trapped, Shep's only hope lies in uncovering the station's hidden past. But as he digs deeper, a sinister force begins to stalk him and his crew, threatening to extinguish their lives one by one.

~2050 A.D. - Before Waypoint's mysterious demise, Anna Lee, the station administrator's neglected daughter, nurses a growing thirst for revenge. Alongside her, Agata, an orphan scarred by tragedy yet unwavering in her optimism, faces an attack that tests the limits of their resilience. Together, their paths entwine in a struggle for survival that echoes through the ages.

Bridging the gap between the epic scope of Interstellar and the mind-bending suspense of Dark Matter by Blake Crouch, Waypoint Eclipse is more than a novel—it's a thought-provoking journey through the labyrinth of space, time, and the human psyche. It's a story about the indomitable human spirit, the invisible threads that connect us, and the harrowing choices we face when pushed to our limits.

Join the odyssey to discover what it truly means to make it home to those we love.

I’ve been an Audible subscriber for decades now and have only ever “returned “ a handful of books. I like to finish what I’ve started. This book came very close to making it onto that unfinishable list. The narration by an AI rather than by a human was good enough to show where machine narration is going but not good enough to be really enjoyable. As for the story it felt wooden but that might just have been the narration. I’ll certainly try another machine narrator in the future as these things just get better but for 2026 I’ll pass.

Weak Narration and a So So Story
