Read it instead.

this is a great book series and after the events of its predecessors, well worth the read. I read each book and decided to do the audible when I was driving, and I must say i did not enjoy the narrator for water's wrath. So I read it completely. Bring Devan McGaughey back please.

Love this series..

There so much to delve into, just when you think you know it all! Surprises at every turn, with a heart that burns ever so bright with the pulse of this series. Some sadness, very sad to the point of tears, some treachery, some adventure, and a ton of magic!

The only issue I have was the tone, flow, word accents, and names mispronounced by this new narrator. It was jarring and pulled me out of the story. If this was rerecorded, I would probably get rid of this version, if the update was a better narrator. It is tough after 3 books of audio to get with the new names and it made this lovely series less enjoyable for this book, sadly.

Great story and characters ❤

Change in narrator was very distracting

The book, continued series, was good and as expected. However, I have to agree with other negative reviews of the narrator’s performance - not good. It is incredibly distracting to have her pronounce and read characters names, personality, accents, cadence, and overall demeanor differently than what I’ve come to be familiar of the story. Also, I’m unsure if it was her performance for the author’s intent, but the main characters were read with more “attitude”, ego, and impatience than the other books. I’ve learned to know the protagonists as meek, humble, shy but in this book they all seem like they’re giving “attitude”. Please re-perform the audio.

Narrator sucks

In any other situation she would be wonderful, but she obviously didn’t listen to the three books before. She pronounces Vhalla’s name vAL-lA instead of “Vah-la” and Aldrick’s name became “Al-drick”. The accent for the west became Russian for some reason.
Honestly, I really hate this recording. The narrator herself would be fine if she actually had bothered listening to the others to learn how the accents and names went.

Good but…

Please have this book re-recorded with the previous narrator. The new one threw off the flow of the story and the mispronounced names throw you off even more (like the last air bender movie compared to the show) gonna return this just read it myself or wait for a hopeful re-record with Devan McGaughey.

Good.

I really enjoyed this series and was excited to see how Vhalla  would develop on her solo adventure. I really think this was a real opportunity for character development but it fell flat for me. I thought this title was very sad and did not measure up to the previous 3 titles. Vhalla was such a badass in Earth's End and that did not carry over well to this title. Vhalla seems to be a terrible judge of character though the whole series is basically about how she can see through to her dark prince. Every time I thought she was going to rise to the occasion and be a badass again she fell straight on her face...it is disappointing that the 5th book is not available so I won't know how it all ends.
