Publisher's summary

From RT Book Reviews New Adult Award Winner comes a riveting and intensely suspenseful small-town mountain romance.

Tragedy had stripped Aurora of everything she once loved. But now she's back in Balsam Grove, ready to face all she's kept locked away for seven years. Or so she thinks. Aurora doesn't expect her first collision to be with the boy she left all those years ago. The boy who betrayed her trust with no regrets. The boy who is no longer a boy but a man with the same stormy eyes that swept her into his current before she ever learned to swim. She'd thought he was safe. He'd thought their path was mapped out. Turns out neither of them was ready for the crash at the bottom of the cascade.

Contains mature themes.

Loved this!

The plot, perfection, the twists, unexpected, Jaxson, hotness, but I did not care for Aurora's handling of her relationship. I don't know, just something about her was off for me. The ending was unexpected. Overall it was a good book

Riveting

I read this because of Troy Duran and loved it because of the tasteful way it was narrated and written. The story kept me hooked, the twists were unexpected but enjoyable and the ending was perfect for a steamy adventure riddled romance.
I look forward to reading more books by not only K.K. Allen but also CJ Bloom and Troy Duran it was a riveting combination!

Suspenseful Second Chance Romance

The narration was outstanding. I really loved. CJ Bloom is great with every book narrated and I can never go wrong. Troy Duran was a newer voice for me and I ended up looking his voice as well. It was nice to hear another male voice than the ones I'm used to and it was refreshing. There is just something about his voice that really gets to me, but in a good way.

I'm not usually a big fan of mystery/suspense mixed in romance unless it's dark. Calling this book suspenseful is a stretch. It is there, but not so much that your waiting to know what will happen next because its everything is thrown in at the end. Dont get me wrong, the ending was the best part, but I would have liked to seen more of a build up. I liked Aurora and Jaxon. I was rooting for them to fix their pasts so they'd have a future together. It was very satisfying seeing them find a way back to each other.

I had to give this one 4 stars. The narration was very good. I love it. The story may not have been my favorite, but the romance and the end was hard not to enjoy.

Awesome

Aurora was strong and fierce despite her past and Jaxon was just perfect. Love this story!

4.75 Fight Through the Darkness STARS

Completely hooked right from the beginning! Right away you just know not everything is as it seems. With the heroine having blocked 3 very important days we are just as clueless as she is. I really felt for the hero when she walked away from him but I understood why she did it. The story is told mostly in the present but it does have flashbacks from both the H/h's POV. My favorite parts were in the present despite the hero being a little gruff. One thing I did not like is that once again the heroine is with no one during the time apart while the hero is. I really wish we would get more second chance stories where either both are celibate or just the heroine is. Overall I really liked the story and rate it 4.75 stars.

Narration was great. CJ does a fantastic job with changing her voice to sound like the heroine at 8 and at 15. Troy was perfect as well!

Good story but

The story was good but the story was mostly told by the heroine. I do love CJ Bloom but wish there were more from the hero perspective. Other than that, I have no complaint.

Really Good Second Chance Plus Suspense

This was a really good story about a young girl’s struggle with a traumatic event and so much loss including her first love and the boy who never stopped loving her. Complex and angsty and leaves you guessing until the end. Love the secondary best friends Claire & Daniel. Excellent narration.

So good

This was such a good book.
There were times it felt a bit slow in the beginning but it was well made up for by the middle of the book. It wrapped up amazingly.

Great listen!!

I loved the book! The plot twist was absolutely unexpected. My only complaint is that every time I heard the heroine being called “waterfall eyes” it seemed to annoy me. The point of a nickname is that it flows - and is easier to say than the person’s name. But that’s just a personal distaste lol enjoy!
