Publisher's summary

Even though thirteen-year-old Marcus Kanenas is confined to a wheelchair, he sees himself as a survivor and a dreamer. In fact, his favorite dream is of a world far away, a world where magic is as common as air, where animals tell jokes, and where trees beg people to pick their fruit. He even has a name for this place - Farworld.

When Marcus magically travels to Farworld, he meets Kyja, a girl without magic in a world where spells, charms, and potions are everywhere, and Master Therapass, a master wizard who has kept a secret hidden for 13 years, a secret that could change the fate of two worlds. But the Dark Circle has learned of Master Therapass’ secret and their evil influence and power are growing.

Farworld’s only hope is for Marcus and Kyja to find the mythical Elementals - water, land, air, and fire - and convince them to open a drift between the worlds. As Kyja and Marcus travel to Water Keep, they must face the worst the evil Dark Circle can throw at them - Summoners, who can command the living and the dead; Unmakers, invisible creatures that can destroy both body and soul; and dark mages known as Thrathkin S’Bae.

Along the way, Marcus and Kyja will discover the truth about their own heritage, the strength of their friendship, and the depths of their unique powers.

I have been looking for a fix since Brandon Mull

I had a difficult time adjusting to the reader Mark Wright, but I liked the book a lot and am downloading the next book in the series right now. I love Brandon Mull and have been looking for a fix that comes close to his books or the Harry Potter series. This book is original enough that it doesn't feel like the author borrowed too much from anywhere and the story is enough to keep me excited to keep listening/reading. I recommend if you like other other similar magic/adventure type titles.

Bad writing and bad imagination. Poor voice over.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Maybe an eight yr old.

What was most disappointing about J. Scott Savage’s story?

Poorly thought out confrontations. Unimaginative resolutions. Lame descriptions. Characters that were too dumb.

How could the performance have been better?

Bad effects that didn't need to be there. For example the voice that did the trees, sounded like a robot!

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Water Keep?

It's a decent story just bad writing throughout. I can't believe he found a publisher as well as wrote two more books. A good editor could have made a big difference!

Any additional comments?

You have been warned! Don't waste your credit! I typically like most YA authors but not this one!

Very interesting summer read

Love that the main characters aren't perfect! The mention of other story's keeps far world grounded. Extremely interested in the other books.

Farworld is thought-provoking

Loved the book for Farworld. Interesting words on kindness and it's strength throughout the story.

Water Keep: Farworld- Unique Story of Two Worlds

What did you love best about Water Keep?

Mr. Savage has combined good story telling with well developed characters who have an interesting problem to overcome even though Kaisha and Marcus are only 10 years old.

What other book might you compare Water Keep to and why?

Take a pinch of Harry Potter, add a dash of Leven Thumps, and a smidge of Enders Wiggin, mix them all together and you might be close to Farworld.

Have you listened to any of Mark Wright’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was my first time to hear Mark Wright.

The Good Part Is That This Is Clean Fantasy

I am not a fan of undead and giant spider like creatures, but the story is clean with no bad content. It might be scary for some children. The plot is decent, but I wouldn't say that it is great either. I won't continue the series.

I tired this book because I really liked J. Scott Savage's The Mysteries of Cove Series of books. So if you don't like this, try his other series. They are clean as well and I gave them 5 star ratings.
