The world teeters on the brink of chaos in the sequel to Broken Flames.

Bellamy and Koraine are fugitives, pursued relentlessly by the princess of the fire kingdom, Nyla, who will stop at nothing to drag them back home. As they flee across a world ready to erupt into war, Bellamy and Koraine must navigate treacherous alliances, ancient secrets, and the wrath of displeased goddesses.

Nyla, driven by loyalty and love, embarks on a perilous journey that forces her to confront her own past and the powerful father who controls her every move. With war threatening to tear the kingdoms apart, the stakes have never been higher.

The 1st one was exceedingly better. Nila is whiny and the character goes back and forth. Honestly her turn to the dark side as it were made little since to me. Not enough sexy time. And I just didn't like the that Koraine had to give up her Moon powers. There are two more books and they are not about my favorite couple. Its unlikely I finish this series.

Meh

I liked the way the world was established and how there are similarities to the lore

the different points of view

So good!! Just as good as the first book! The plot continued steadily and the characters developed even more. It was a great second book in a series.

Loved!

This book honestly took me almost a whole year to finish. I tried reading it so many times, but it just didn’t pull me in the way Broken Flames did. I even grabbed the audiobook on Audible thinking it would help but I still struggled to stay hooked. My only real critique about the audiobook is Bellamy’s narrator. His delivery felt a bit flat, like he was whispering too much or forcing a husky tone, which made it hard to connect emotionally.

Story-wise, I actually liked Bellamy and Corraine way more as enemies than as lovers. The beginning had me intrigued, but somewhere around the middle, things started to feel a little rushed. I wish there had been more worldbuilding and depth to really let the story breathe.

One thing that threw me off was some of the dialogue especially when words like “bitch” popped up toward the end. It didn’t feel like it belonged in that world at all. I know the story takes a lot of inspiration from Avatar The Last Airbender, but I wish it had leaned a lot more into creating its own universe instead of staying so close to ATLA. Also, calling element-users “manipulators” just didn’t sit right with me it felt a bit too plain for such a creative concept.

The ending between Bellamy and Corraine was fine, a bit predictable but I’m glad they got their happy ending. Even with its flaws, I have to give the author credit for publishing a solid Zutara inspired story. I’ll definitely be picking up Eternal Moorlands when I’m ready for my next fantasy fix.

It took me a year to finish…
