Two years ago, the InVaders, aliens who arrived in fourteen ships, seeded the atmosphere with a virus known as Double V, which killed 99.9% of the global population within days.

But the virus had an unintended side effect.

While only one in every thousand people proved immune to the virus, one in a million fell ill but survived, and woke from their fever able to do magic.

The most powerful of these is John Callum, a Warlock who lost his wife and daughter to the InVader Virus, and who has vowed to use his magic to make the aliens pay for what they took from him.

Found by the Diviner, Ruby Ashford, John joins the Resistance, begins to learn from other mages, and comes to understand his terrifying potential, while finding hope and building a new family with Ruby and their adopted daughter.

A family he will do anything to protect.

As the aliens begin landing in force, John gathers the other members of the Resistance and sets out to show the InVaders what it means……when a Warlock goes to war.
