A collection of 12 award-winning short stories the true adventures of California Fish and Game Wardens and the wildlife-destroying outlaws they pursue. These stories illustrate the wide variety of wildlife-related problems wardens face in California, which has a greater diversity of wildlife and wildlife habitat than any other state and is second only to Alaska in its vast expanses of wilderness.
Volume three contains 12 more exciting adventures:
Delta Ghosts - A team of wardens ambush outlaw gillnetters at Grizzly Bay, in the same Delta waters patrolled 80 years earlier by Fish Patrol Warden and famous writer, Taylor London .
Smooth Operator - Wardens stalk a cagy and arrogant abalone-poaching commercial sea urchin diver.
Time Bomb - A dangerous and mentally unstable deer poacher proves highly troubling for pursuing wardens.
Cheaters - An inexperienced warden consults an old pro of his profession to capture a pair of super-wary striped bass snaggers.
Tigers Revenge - A cocky and confident salmon poacher makes the mistake of “pulling the tail of the tiger,” that is, taunting a local game warden.
A Calculated Risk - Despite a comedy of errors, wardens close in on highly destructive pig poachers.
Killer John - Future serial killer? Wardens deal with a scary deer poacher and born killer.
New Talent - A new warden astounds a mentor with his almost super-human sensory skills.
Slow Learners - A once major league pitcher proves to be a highly interesting adversary for wardens.
Davie Crockett and the Bush Baby - A Hollywood stunt man and elk poacher tangles with border wardens.
Then Came Speedy - A Peruvian sheepherder and a small sheepdog pay dearly to save their sheep from marauding bears in high meadows of the Sierra Nevada range....
Lethal Intent - Would-be assassins are thwarted by a fearless warden who puts his life on the line for the intended victims.

When I visit the national parks, I usually lounge near streams, rivers, or a pavilion. I’ll listen to the birds and enjoy nature.
But every now and again, I like to broaden my horizons and learn something new.
I’ve lived in the country (it’s more like a county) for most if my life and last week, I saw a deer in my back yard for the first time ever. So I requested a free review copy of this audiobook and am so tickled I did!
Once, I requested a similar book by a park ranger and I regretted it. It was boring and ill- written and delivered. Like total failure.
Game Warden, however is a series of A Day in the Life. I’m sure not all days are as exciting and rewarding, but it definitely gleamed their stories in a interesting and captivating spell. I didn’t learn how to hunt or fish but I have a new respect for those in these professions. I’ve already listed the series in my Audible Wish Cart and hope to listen to the other four before the end of the year. One a month should work!
I’m not sure if it would capture and maintain the attention of younger listeners, but it’s mild in nature and I loved it - definitely recommended.
I loved it! I want more!

These stories set in California are just great attention-holding tales for those with an interest in the outdoors and wildlife. I grew up in the Midwest and hunted small game and deer until the age of 18. These stories bring back great nostalgia for me of hunting and my young of the diverse areas available to hunters. The hunter’s responsibility of caring for wildlife populations through ethical game harvesting as enforced by the game wardens.
This was my first opportunity to hear an audio performance from Patrick J. Hinchliffe. I enjoy his performance and his voices of the different wardens in the various stories. The production quality of this audiobook is also of the highest quality. I heard no problems during the entire performance. There were not any detectable flaws that I was able to hear during the entire performance such as loops, breaks, or buzzing. The production was crisp and clear. Terry Hodges delivered an excellent audiobook production. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
