Publisher's summary

My journey in writing this audiobook started when my youngest son, Joshua, was deployed to Iraq. The experiences he shared appeared to show interesting parallels between what was happening with him in Iraq and what I was experiencing myself as a pastor. Joshua’s Operation Iraqi Freedom letters were so detailed, they helped me to compose an analogy of natural war and spiritual war.

Near completion, my computer crashed, and my entire manuscript was lost. Disheartened, I put the box up and forgot about it. Seventeen years later, I rediscovered Joshua’s letters! Sheltered-in because of the COVID-19 pandemic, I started writing War in the Heavens again.

Unbelievably, another virus wiped away everything on my computer. I knew what to do next - type the book over. Alas, there was a problem preventing me from typing. I had lost passion, energy, and motivation. I simply did not want to start over! The problem was me! Have you been there?

This loss of motivation was an unseen ambush from Satan. I wrote about warfare regarding the spiritual realm, and now one of the attacks that Joshua detailed was being manifested in the natural realm. Armed with knowledge that the enemy does not want his strategies exposed, I put on my spiritual armor (uniform), picked up the Bible (orders), began to pray (fight), and started writing (my assignment).

I believe that victory lies not in how quickly we achieve the goal, but how persistent we pursue the course - in spite of our struggles.

While listening to War in the Heavens you too will recognize and understand spiritual warfare (orders), be equipped with valuable information to combat this unseen enemy (fight), and be empowered and commissioned to occupy your position of spiritual freedom (your assignment).

Some good parallels but...

These shared journaling moments connecting actual battle moments from the authors Son with Mom making connections with Bible stories that have a message were intriguing. There were moments in the book where woke ideologically was presented and that I don’t believe comes from the supreme love and grace of our God and further aides in us vs ‘them’ whomever ‘them’ will be defined will always give satan a foothold to divide and conquer. I wished the narrator felt more connected to what she was reading in a way that was genuine and pulled listeners in. The performance of the narrator on this one needs some work. Reading in a matter of fact tone the whole time was impersonal. The book also ends on a very sad and dramatic battle share and left one wishing and a final note on spiritual hope and victory in the battle.
