Nate Temple has an appointment in Hell. One he can’t reschedule… After recent events, Nate took some much-deserved time off for a little rest and relaxation. But when he finally returns home to attend what should have been a celebration of love, he finds insidious fear infecting the streets of St. Louis. Paranoia. Chaos. Anarchy. It seems every supernatural family in town is sick and tired of Nate and wants to put him in his place. The worst part… all his friends seem to agree.

Story
My name is Quinn MacKenna, and magic doesn’t work on me. When I’m not getting roped into bar brawls in Boston, I’m usually acquiring - stealing is a form of acquisition, you know - dangerous magical artifacts to turn around and sell them to the highest bidders. But I prefer to be paid in favors, not money. Because favors are a hot commodity in the Land of the Fae. Favors are the only currency that will buy the answers I seek: Why magic doesn’t work on me, and who my real father is.

Story
Before the now-infamous Count Dracula ever tasted his first drop of blood, Sorin Ambrogio owned the night. Humanity fearfully called him the Devil. Cursed by the gods, Sorin spent centuries bathing Europe in oceans of blood with his best friends, Lucian and Nero, the world’s first Werewolf and Warlock - an unholy trinity if there ever was one. Until the three monsters grew weary of the carnage, choosing to leave it all behind and visit the brave New World across the ocean. As they befriended a Native American tribe, they quickly forgot that monsters can never escape their past.

Show me an amateur conjurer, and I'll stop him before he gets himself killed. That's the idea, anyway. But New York City isn't what it used to be, and I don't mean the recent crash. Amateur casters are calling up creatures they shouldn't be able to. And there's been a murder at the city's most hallowed cathedral, a message in blood on the victim's back the NYPD wants me to interpret, like yesterday.

A cursed druid, blackmailed by a faery queen to find a missing magic rock. Let's just hope they don't hack the druid off...for everyone's sake. Name's Colin McCool. Folks call me the Junkyard Druid. I hate that name. Despite my last name, I'm not "cool" like the other hunters in town. I don't run an occult bookstore, I've never owned a Harley, and I didn't inherit a family fortune passed down through generations of hunters before me. And I kind of have this curse on me that's messed up my life.

Story
I go by Crowley, no last name. The Fae took that from me when they tore me from my crib and turned me into a creature of blood and shadow. My kidnappers raised me, taught me magic, and made me their Hound. For years I served them, but a cur can only be brought to heel for so long. I've broken my chains by betraying my adoptive mother, the powerful sorceress Fuamnach. Since then, her assassins have been hunting me - but I’ll cut a swathe of destruction through them if it means gaining back a piece of the humanity they stole from me. Vengeance will have to do.

Publisher's Summary
Two old dudes want to kill me. Oh, and one of them is my ancestor....
And after centuries of practice, they’re pretty good at the whole murder thing. But at least they want to kill each other just as badly.
Now, I’ve taken down a Greek goddess, worn a Horseman’s mask, and I ride a homicidal unicorn who hates rainbows with a passion. Some might say sending two senior citizens to a permanent retirement home should be a breeze.
It ain’t.
Because that’s not my biggest concern. One of my friends is in danger, or possibly dying, and I need to get her back before her fiancé kills me. But finding her introduces me to new worlds of pain. The biggest of these being my own past - which has been a blatant lie - and a parting gift from my parents - which might have just been the coin toss for the Apocalypse Olympics.
I’m beginning to realize that none of the old gods, legends, or monsters have been idle the last few centuries. They’ve been waiting, picking sides, and scheming schemes.
Of course, maybe one of those two old dudes will punch my ticket and save me the headache. A wizard can hope, right? Because either way, I’m about to have a very bad series of days....
If you like Jim Butcher, Kevin Hearne, Ilona Andrews, Linsey Hall, McKenzie Hunter, or Ella Summers, you will love the eighth installment of the Temple Chronicles.

This is the one!!!
Hang on boys and girls. All that stuff that has been driving you crazy about this series for the last however long you’ve been on this ride for me I am about a month in. Shayne gets you on this one by the shoulder and screams in your face “this is why I get the big bucks”. Not literally lol but Yeah! This is the one that sits you down and has you thinking it all thru and shaking your head saying I thought I knew what was going on here. But I was wrong!! Just WOW really impressed by how long he was able to carry you into this series with the questions hanging there unanswered and our hero just puts it all together!! Well done! I can’t wait for the next one to start, in 5.4.3.2.1 This is audible

lots of sideline rhetoric but tolerable
Shayne Silver adds in a TON of irrelevant chatter in the middle of every suspenseful incident. You have to skip forward 2 or 3 minutes every time to get back on point. it is grating on the nerves. If not for the narrator this book would be 1 star.

great addition to the storyline
I like how the author has changed some of his writing styles as to address some of the mysteries we were left with in previous book. he still leaves things open ended but more or less points out that things are open ended. I like this a lot better. I use to think the author just forgot about certain details and at the end of the book I figured they must not be important. now that isn't the case and I really like that.
