Publisher's Summary

The first book in the classic vigilante action series from a "writer who spawned a genre" (The New York Times).

Overseas, Mack Bolan was dubbed "Sgt. Mercy" for the compassion he showed the innocent. On the home front, they're calling him the Executioner for what he's doing to the guilty.

In the jungles of Southeast Asia, American sniper Mack Bolan honed his skills. After 12 years, with 95 confirmed hits, he returns home to Massachusetts. But it's not to reunite with his family, it's to bury them - victims in a mass murder/suicide. Even though Bolan's own father pulled the trigger, he knows the old man was no killer. He was driven to madness by Mafia thugs who have turned his idyllic hometown into a new kind of war zone.

Yes, Mack Bolan

I just saw this book last night, ordered it and listened to it during the day. Man, it bring back so many memories of ready Mack Bolan, Able Team, and Phoenix Force books.
Nicely done and I'm looking forward to book two. I checked the Tantor Audio website and there is an audio book for the books 2,3 and 4. Hope they will be released soon.

I love this book!

I love this book! I’ve read it several times over the years since it appeared as a paperback original.

Hearing my favorite books as audiobooks has been hit or miss. A great story can be ruined by an awful narrator. But not in this case. Shawn Compton does a great job telling the story. So much so in fact that the story doesn’t come across as dated - even though it takes place during Vietnam.

The story moves at a fast pace and there’s action to spare. The production is first rate - no technical glitches. I highly recommend this audio version of Don Pendleton’s War Against the Mafia and look forward to more Executioner audiobooks.

Sex, guns and death

Fantastic first book in a long series. Mack Bolan is a warrior taking his vengeance out on the mafia that destroyed his family. He is as smooth as James Bond and as ruthless as Rambo.

Just as it sounded in my head when I read it in 81

Die hard Executioner fan back in the early 80's as a young airman in the missile field. Mack Bolan made lot's of boring days out in the middle of no where go by fast. I sure want to thank Mr. Pendletons family for allowing it to be done in audio, and with the whole collection could be done. Love it.

Mack Bolan is my favorite

I am glad to finally see it will be available on audible. It is my most favorite series I hope they also include the Stonyman and super bolan series. They resonate with be because I am former Military myself. I thank the Pendleton's for allowing audible to include it in their offerings. I was saddened to learn that Don is no longer with us and me heart felt condolences go out to his family
He was a very good writer and his books kept me company on a lot of cold nights out on the battlefield during downtime. Again I am super excited it is now available on audible.

War Against the Mafia............

I remember reading this book (and the rest) years ago and they were all great! Didn't know If I wanted to hear this book read to me because I enjoyed reading them, however, it was done very well; just one point I'll come to in a minute.
It was narrated as If he was a war veteran and not just reading the line off a sheet of paper, the only thing for me was that at times he sounded too much like John Wayne, apart from that it was excellent.
Now, onto Book 2.............
