Surpising development

I quickly found my way into the story and immediately liked the main character Mingo. With a broken heart he tries to start over again and throws himself into work. The setting is adorable; it was very easy to imagine Hawaii. Mingo's job is quite exciting; a few more scenes with his investigative work would have been great. Within a few lines A.J. Llewellyn creates sympathy and antipathy for the secondary characters and I could understand the friendships and individual relationships very well. The author gets to the heart of Mingo's feelings. He was consistently easy to empathize with and I could feel his heartache and self-doubt. The novel is embellished with some erotic scenes and a lot of crackling tension.
The development of the story wasn't nearly as expected and the ending surprised me.
The audio book is narrated by Michael Dean. He is excellent at portraying the characters individually and increasing the tension.
At the moment there are six books with Mingo McCloud published. Hopefully the second audio book will be released soon.

Wild Ride!

For a 4 hour book, a whole lot happens, and OMG the crazy! I only gave this book a shot because the narrator is one of my favorites, and I'm so glad I did! A wild ride from beginning to end, highly engaging and sexy. Super duper.

Mingo

AJ Llewellyn is a new to me author but her grabbing Michael Dean for a new to me series has gotten me a new favorite author. When I started this book I wasn't too sure what was going on at first but that quickly went away and I got lost in the story. I loved every moment of this book and Mingo and Francois were so hot together, as was Mingo and Jason until it didn't. I can't wait for the rest of this series!!

Not at all what I expected

First off, as always, Michael Dean did an outstanding job with the narration and all of the various characters voices. Wow!! The screwing is off the charts HOT and there is a lot of it. Good story keeps your attention for sure. Plot twist and even more smoking hot sex scenes. The second little short story also had a ton of f***ing. Hopefully, there will be more sweaty, steaming sex stories in this series. I got this one for Free but, it's well worth the cost or credit and your time to listen.....

Good story. Good narration.

Llewellyn has a frustrating ability to create believable relationships between characters only to throw a wrench into the relationship forcing the reader to reassess said relationship. Sigh. The emotional torture is what keeps us reading.

The narration was good and I hope more books will be given audio.

Grabbed me fast

So this sort of story usually is not my go to, but I am definitely glad I jumped in. It grabbed me from the beginning and kept me listening to the wonderful Michael Dean all the way through a wild story. Give it a shot and you won’t be disappointed.

Great story and brillant narration

This is my first book by A. J. Llewellyn and it won't be my last. The author has a great writing style, so the book captivated me from the very beginning. And that didn’t stop right up to the last page. The story is told in a very entertaining way and I really like the setting in Hawaii.
You have to like the main character, Mingo McCloud. Mingo may be successful in his career, but he has all the more bad luck with his private relationships. He has just broken up with his boyfriend when he meets and falls in love with Jason. But Jason has his own agenda. What's behind it and do they have a future? Mingo's current professional case is also intriguing. He has to find a missing housewife whose husband is suspected of murder.
I also took the secondary characters, especially Mingo's lesbian friend and Francois to my heart.
The book contains everything a good story needs: suspense, drama, hot sex scenes and emotional moments.
Thank you for this great story and I hope the other books in the McCloud series will also come out as audio books.
Michael Dean narrates the audio book and he did a brilliant job. He gave different voices to the different characters and brought them to life. It’s absolutely fun to listen to him. I had listened to the audiobook in one day.
Aloha and highly recommend!

Mingo

Mingo is licking his wounds after a break up. He meets somebody new - who may or may not be who he says. He has a case to solve. Poor Mingo seems to have bad taste in men. This seems to be the start of a series and I really can't wait for more. At the end a little prequel was included which was really nice. Michael did a great job.

Terrific Story & Narration🎧 A Gripping Ride!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it is a fast paced story and I found it captivating from start to end. This is my first book written by A.J. Llewellyn and it will not be my last. She fit an impressive amount of story is her novella sized story. I adored the lead character Mingo McCloud, a forensic accountant who gets hired to work cases, in this story he picks up a domestic case, husband is in prison and the wife is still missing. But that is not the only storyline, Mingo has his own drama, coming out of a relationship that went bad he gets involved with Jason, who is another mystery. He brings in his friend Leilani to help with the case he is working on and the Francois, a badass French-Caribbean ex special forces who is smoking hot. I loved how everything played out in this book, the story is cleverly plotted and contains drama, personal and work (crime), a touch of angst, some twists and turns, mystery, heartfelt and emotional moments and some hot romance. A.J. Llewellyn, thank you for this great story, loved Hula, the bonus story at the end too.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Michael Dean is a talented narrator and versatile voice artist. He does an awesome job portraying the characters, bringing them to life and humanizing them with their emotions and personality. I love how he takes each role and makes it his one. He gives each character their own unique voice which makes it easy to follow the story and who is who. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fantastic listen🎧
