Publisher's Summary

In the fifth book in the New York Times best-selling Walk Series, Alan Christensen finally reaches his destination.

A year earlier, Seattle advertising executive Alan Christoffersen lost everything he held dear - his beloved wife was killed in a terrible accident; his partner stole his business from him; and the bank foreclosed on his home when he couldn’t pay the mortgage. With seemingly nothing left to live for, Alan set out to walk from Seattle to the farthest point on the map, Key West. And now, after walking more than two thousand miles on a journey filled with surprises, dangers, and revelations, he approaches his destination - and the most important decision of his life.

Romantic, suspenseful, and deeply spiritual, the Walk Series has been hailed by critics as "intriguing" (Deseret Morning News), "unconventional" (Publishers Weekly), and "definitely a journey worth taking" (Booklist). As Alan approaches Key West and the end of his quest, the revelations continue.

Book Five--

I'm not sure why Audible does not have this book linked to the series, but it is Book Five in a 5-book series that begins with The Walk.

I loved this series--I listened to the final four books consecutively--I just could not stop until the journey was complete. I was so involved, I had to keep reminding myself it was fiction! It is well written and uplifting. And the journey's conclusion was sweet and satisfying.

The author narrates all five books in the series, so I liked the consistency of the same tone and voice throughout. I highly recommend the whole series--and listening to them in order. It is definitely worth the time and credits you will invest--and I hope you enjoy the books as much as I did!!

Enjoyable book

I had not read a Richard Paul Evans book in years so when I saw this new book on Audible I decided to get it. I did not realize that it was the last book in a series of five books. But the author provided enough background; I quickly got the highlights of the prior books in the series. In a small way this book reminded me of John Steinbeck’s “Travels with Charley”. Our hero Alan Christofferson’s wife dies in an accident, his partner steals all their clients from their boutique ad agency in Seattle and starts his own company, the bank forecloses on his home, and his automobiles are repossessed. Alan decides to walk across the continental United States by the longest route, Seattle, Washington to Key West, Florida in an attempt to deal with his grief and decided what to do with his life. He meets interesting people on this walk and lessons are learned along the way. This book opens with Alan stopping his journey at the boarder of Florida to fly to Pasadena as his father has had a heart attack. He stays at his father house and visits him at the hospital. Alan discovers a genealogy book his father is working on about their family history. He reads this in the evening and discusses it with his father on their visits. His father dies leaving everything to Alan including a letter he is to read when he reaches the farthest point of Key West. The book is mostly about his return to Florida and his continuing trek to Key West. He continues to meet interesting people including a discussion about God with a man handing out flyers for a local church. This is an enjoyable book and leaves one thinking of things greater than oneself. The book was narrated by the author.

My Second Walk Was Just As Rewarding

I listened to this series several years ago and I loved it! I was surprised how much i enjoyed it listening to it a second time. It was like visiting old friends that have always been in my heart. Richard Paul Evans is a master at bringing a story to life. He paints such beautiful pictures in my mind but also in my heart as he describes places and human feelings. We have traveled to many of the places that are described in this series of books and it was wonderful to revisit these places with the author. I also love his narration! Who better to give emphasis and emotion where needed than the author? I think I will most likely be taking a third walk in the not-too-distant future!

I have enjoyed this series every step of the way!

I have enjoyed The Walk series every step of the way. Richard Paul Evans delivers not only in text but in narration. I can not recommend this author and this adventure more highly than to say I have shared this with everyone I love...those who enjoy listening received an audio version, those who prefer reading were sent each sequel as soon as it was in print. A great story.

Highly Recommended!!!!

This is. Really Great series of books. I highly recommend it. If you start reading any of them you will want to read them all. I began by reading book 3 out of sequence. It’s a great stand alone story. All I can say is you have to read them all. The last book Walking in Water is a great finish to the story series with a surprises at the end I did not see coming.
Very inspiring reading.

Excellent Story, get a professional Reader

Richard, you are a beautiful soul, and a brilliant writer... I feel you are close to your material and that's why you choose to narrate, I pray it is not to maximize profits... all said some of us who want to maximize tbe listening experience would love to hear your stories performed by the likes of a George Guidall, And RC Bray , or the Myriad of others paid to act out all characters of a book with equal quality and passion.. Please consider this in the future.. in the mean time Thank You! I've listened to many of your stories..

Disappointed strictly from emotions!

Am I the only one that is not happy with the ending? After the second book I was hooked and listened to the last three. Really!? Faline left Alan out of jealousy no less when he needed someone the most and Nicole was there for him through the toughest times. To me he made his choice because she was more exotic and beautiful physically then Nicole but Nicole seemed like a more beautiful person on the inside. Terrible. Sorry but I was hopeful that he would have chosen Nicole.

One of the best walks I’ve taken...

This is an amazing series and it has been even more interesting to hear the author read his own work. I highly recommend this series!!
