Publisher's summary

Leah Thornton’s life, like her Southern Living home, has great curb appeal. But a paralyzing encounter with a can of frozen apple juice in the supermarket shatters the façade, forcing her to admit that all is not as it appears. When her best friend gets in Leah’s face about her refusal to deal with her life and her drinking, Leah is forced to make a decision. Can this brand-conscious socialite walk away from the country club into 28 days of rehab? Can she leave what she has now to gain back what she needs? Joy, sadness, pain, and a new strength converge, testing her marriage, her friendships, and her faith.

Good listen

I was surprised at the humor in this book, each time it caught me off guard but gave me a real belly laugh. It spoke to my life, the trials I have gone through in relationships. A very good listen.

This is Christian fiction, not "Thriller"

I found the husband "Carl" in this book to be abusive and manipulative. I cannot recommend this book to anyone, particularly any woman who has substance use issues. I've NO idea why Audible continues to recommend books like these to me, as I am not a Christian. I'm not about to convert, either. This book should be sub-categorized under Spirituality.

Very well written- very deep

This one was included for free in the Audible Plus catalog. It was supposed to be something to just fill the time between my purchased books.
But I found it was very well written, and I could see myself in the author’s description of Leah’s thoughts even though I don’t struggle with alcohol addiction. There were lots of references to God, which I liked, and I enjoyed riding shotgun on a recovery journey. I recommend this book.

I kept putting off listening to this book

But when I finally did listen… it was a story that I needed to hear… since I am an alcoholic. But it gave me hope that maybe it is possible to be sober in this world…
One day at a time.

Abrupt ending

I feel like someone tore out the last two chapters of the book. Other than that I thought it was a great one!

Thoroughly enjoyed!

As a recovering alcoholic myself, I truly appreciated the realness of the AA perspective. So often it is misrepresented. Very moving story and full of hope, something AA gave me when I needed it most. Thank you!!!

Feelings

Oh my. This was such a great story. Hit home in so many ways. Never drank but the rest of the storyline touched my soul. Answered many of my questions and feelings. Would recommend

Great listen

I thought this was an interesting subject that you don’t often hear a lot about. It was neat to get the perspective of the main character. I think this book is good for everyone even if you aren’t the one struggling with addiction. It does a good job of showing how many of the things that happen in life can affect you.

Great story

As a recovered addict, I could relate to the book on the transformative power of self reflection. Need a book that takes off from where it left off. Broken people and there journey to a renewed relationship is very powerful.

Amazing!

I was a little lost during some of the flashbacks, but it ended up being an amazing story!
