Publisher's summary

Galen

Lust.

My ultimate downfall,

And demise.

I'm shackled to a life I can't escape.

A life I never asked for.

Now, I'm trapped - soulless,

Burdened by a Watcher lurking within.

He wants out, he wants her.

But I can't let that happen,

Won't let that happen.

She's mine.

Somehow that doesn't matter.

I can't have what I crave.

What I want.

What I need.

As the Watcher fights me,

Battles for control,

I refuse to succumb.

It's a power I'll never relinquish.

I can't unleash what lies beneath,

Without paying the ultimate price,

And losing her in the end.

Amazing job for Kim Loraine

The narrator's did fantastic. Will's voice is sexy as hell. I swoon immediately over an accent and his made me wet every time. I'm glad that Reece ended up with who she did and the other still has a chance to find his soulmate. can't wait to find out what happens to all of them, including Reece's child.

Really Enjoyed It - Looking Forward to the Next!

This was a random find that ended up being a great little PNR book. The story has an interesting twist on the whole vampires & angels mythology that was really fun to read. The chemistry between Galen and Reese was phenomenal & intense. The duet performances of Will Watt & Susan Fouche were fantastic together. Particularly Will's performance of Galen, and just all of his accents & voices in general were great. He did a great job of giving all the characters distinct voices and cadences. I'm really looking forward to immediately reading the second book in the series.

I cried.

I haven't cried reading (or listening to) a book in years. Kim Loraine wrote a fantastic story, incorporating heavenly beings, humans and vampires and introducing watchers, was very creative. And Will and Susan's portrayal of the characters made it come alive. Well done. I can't wait to listen to the next book.

Easy listen

This was an interesting audio. I did enjoy the strong female lead & the hot vampire sex. However, I thought the writing was a little Elementry. It was an easy book to listen to while engaged in other activities. It didn't take much concentration in order to grasp the storyline. I am interested to see with the next book holds.

Best Paranormal Romance of the Year

I really didn't know what I expected when I started listening to Waking the Watcher. What I got was the best paranormal romance of the year. This audiobook was beautifully crafted, passionate, suspenseful, sweet and hot. Kim Loraine's female characters are innocent, strong, sexy and smart, just like I like them. I love Reese and enjoyed watching as she adjusted to the other world Galen opened to her. And Galen, as I said on Facebook, I kept stretching my neck to give him a better bite, lol. The accents Will M. Watt used in voicing Galen melted me. I think the first chapter is one of the hottest I have read. While much of
Kim Loraine's mythology is classic vampire there is much that is not. Sariel, the Watcher is the modern manifestation of an ancient soul with a broken heart. The portrayal of the angel Gabriel as part avenger of God and part match maker was definitely a new twist. This book was so good I kept trying to postpone the end while I was eager to get there. Both the voice actors, Will M. Watt, my new voice crush, and Susan Fouche are superb. Susan Fouche portrayed the innocence and strength of Reese beautifully. And as I said, Will M. Watts Irish accent is a classic. I have my pre-order in for the next book in the series and I'm counting down the days.

Accent lover

This is the best male narrator.. He had English, southern and Irish right on.
Loved listening to him.

Great accents by the narrator

This was an okay read. It wasn't long and the narrators were pretty good, especially the guy who did great accents. The plot was kind of confusing and I didn't completely understand how things were happening. The was a lot of smut, which saved this for me lol. It was pretty often since it was a main point of the story, with Galen/Sariel needing Reece's blood and to "feed" from her. The ending was alright, but I don't know if I'll continue with the other books.

OK story, Good Narration

Waking the Watcher had some potential and I enjoyed the way this book started. But, it ended up just being okay for me. The main characters Galen and Reese were just ok and very whiny. Reese was very annoying and jumped to a lot of conclusions and threw fits over trivial things. But whatever. The sex scenes were very sexy, but I felt like there should have been more of a connection between Galen and Reese other than purely physical need. I get the reason why the sex is so intense, but I needed something more. There were definitely things about the story that I liked, like why the Watchers were after Galen and story behind the fallen angels.

The narration was very good and I think Will M. Watt did a great job with Galen's character as he transitioned from the characters Irish accent to Sariel's deep tone. I liked that a lot about this book and Will was the shining light of this audiobook. Susan Fouche was also good and I enjoyed listening to her as well. This is a very enjoyable audiobook that I got through so fast as I got lost in the story.

I didn't hate this book, I just didn't necessarily love it either. I will probably read the next book in the series though because the writing is really good and I'll admit the story is still entertaining. I want to know more about Sariel.
