Delightful Time Travel

I requested and received a copy of this title from AudioBoom in exchange for an objective review, and I am delighted to have found such a wonderful audiobook. The performance was pitch-perfect, and the story was terrific. The book's description on Amazon includes a School Library Journal recommendation for grade 9 and up. I am far, FAR beyond that, but I was completely engrossed. Nothing in the genre since the Time Traveler's Wife, which I read many years ago, has really excited me, but Waking in Time did just that, and I didn't want to see it end. Abbi, a newly arrived university freshman, finds herself continually waking up in her bed, in the same dorm, in progressively further dates back in time. One needs no familiarity with the university described (U of WI in Madison) to appreciate the well-researched and beautifully described changes in landscape, culture, and mores throughout a hundred-odd years of history, but all of that is secondary to an extraordinarily well-crafted story with just the right amounts of suspense, frustration, and romance. I have the title in my audiobook library, but I've just purchased a paper copy to share with friends and family and have to go back to again in the future--it's really that good.

I had a terrific Time time traveling

72 year old science fiction fan hear one of the best time travel books I've ever read ranks along with Jack Finney's novels I felt there was something special and the note at the end speaking about the genealogy just makes it more poignant I myself discovered through genealogy that I had to Lost aunt that my family never spoke of and I wondered about their lives to here is a story that warms the heart excites the blood and satisfies the mind way to go!

it's an interesting time travel story with a twist

I want to call it a time travel story not romance, becose romance is there in the background, but it's not the focus,focus is Heroin and her selfishness. She is so focused on herself and what she needs,its time to time annoying while listening.

You will want to give this one a chance!

Waking in time took me on a roller coaster of feels. Let me tell you it was worth it! I am a sucker for some time travel.

The start of the book was a little slow. I won't lie I was worried but once I got about two hours in it really started moving. I was so invested in the story and the history Abbi was uncovering about her family past. This was a romance but what I really loved about that was the romance wasn't the driving plot. It was a secondary storyline which really gave Abbi her time to build and develop as a character. The end happened a little to fast for me. I wanted a little more time to see where they ended up.

The narration was good. I am super picky about voices and will give up on listening if the voice does not take the story places. I did not feel this way about this book. However, I did want just a little more change in the voice for each character. All together this was a great book and an amazing listen!

Family, Mystery & A Love Story Across Time.

I wasn't sure I was going to like this book, but it drew me in and never let me go. A different type of Time Travel story, something like Time Traveler's Wife. Yet it had a uniqueness that was fresh and different. The characters had substance and you could feel their emotions. This was also about the strong connection between the ones we love and the ones we lost..and rediscover in ways one could never imagine.

So good!

Great story, would love a sequel!

Excellent read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I listen to it while walking and it encouraged me to get off the couch and walk. it was that good.

great book

I wasn't sure about this book going in but it turned out to be one of them books that it's hard to stop reading (listening) their plight for a way home then to stay together . this was very well written and performed. great job

Great story, poor narration

The story and character development was great! The author did an amazing job of tying it all together at the end with a few twists (although pretty predictable.) The narration on the other hand was poor. It was hard to tell the characters apart based on the narrators voices and the annunciation and inflection was just weird.. sounded like a weird, teenage girl robot. All in all it is still worth a listen based on the story itself.
