  • From Facebook to Meta: Zuckerberg's Big Bet—The Beginning
    May 4 2024
In October 2021, Facebook announced it was changing its name to Meta. For a company that had built its business on social media, it was a gamble to seemingly pivot to a future version of the internet that didn’t yet exist and wasn’t well understood. On this first episode of our special series on the metaverse, host Alex Ossola takes you back to the vision that CEO Mark Zuckerberg laid out for the metaverse, what was going on at the company at the time of the name change and how people reacted both inside and outside the company. A rush to cloud computing without Wall Street?

The real reason that companies rushed to cloud was because they were considered buy able by investors. Private Equity firms snapped up fledgling tech companies, turned them private, pushed them into the cloud and then made an IPO with them. It was/is akin to the tech bubblle. You guys are the WSJ...please report on this "cloud bubble".

Solid content

I’ve enjoyed the variety of content, the short episodes and the contributing journalists.

Idk why audible decided we needed to add 15 words to rate a podcast or book. It’s extremely annoying.

Boring and badly hosted

I tried this podcast for awhile but the host drove me nuts and matter covered was well just plain… weird and a waste of air time.
Unsubscribed other WSJ appeal to me esp. as a woman manager.
