It was a regional final that contained more ups and downs than all of Cedar Point. Big runs from both Harbor Beach and Flint International (IAF) were the defining factor of the Region 24 Championship, which the Pirates won in dramatic, double-overtime fashion, 64-62 on Thursday, March 05, 2026. The victory marked the first boys basketball regional title in school history, with Harbor Beach now advancing to the state quarterfinals on Tuesday, March 10 in Port Huron.

Sandusky threw everything they had at Harbor Beach, but the Pirates leaned on their senior leadership to forge a path back to the regional title game for the second year in a row. Harbor Beach defeated Sandusky, 55-45 on Tuesday, March 03, 2026 at Cass City High School. The Pirates now face off with International Academy of Flint for the regional championship on Thursday.

All eyes and pressure were on Harbor Beach in District 96, yet that didn’t stop the Pirates from cruising to their second-straight district title with a 52-34 victory over Cass City. Harbor Beach now roll into the regional rounds hosted by Cass City next week with a head of steam.

After losing to the Bad Axe Hatchets by ten points just on Friday, the USA Patriots threw the final punch, defeating Bad Axe 46-36 on Monday, February 23, 2026 to advance to the District 96 Semi-Final.

It was a battle of the heavyweights and it were the Pirates of Harbor Beach that delivered blow after blow, defeating the Cros-Lex Pioneers, 58-43 on Friday, February 13, 2026 in Harbor Beach. The victory for Harbor Beach makes it nine wins in a row and snapped Cros-Lex’s 12-game winning streak in the process.

In front of a packed gymnasium, Harbor Beach outlasted the Ubly Bearcats, 64-50, to clinch at least a share of the Big Thumb - Black division on Friday, February 06, 2026. The game featured nine lead changes and five ties, but was blown wide open by the Pirates' 14-0 run in 4:27 in the third quarter.

Lakers utilized a 9-0 run to end the first half and pull away from Bad Axe, defeating the Hatchets, 50-30 on Friday, January 16, 2026. The Green Machine is off to its hottest start in at least 20 years with a 9-2 record.

Bad Axe led at the end of the first quarter, 12-10 with balanced scoring inside, but the Hatchets wouldn't score again inside of 19'9", relying on three-point shooting for the remainder of the game. Lakers' Caden Carriveau scored half of his 16 points in the second quarter to give the green & white a three-point lead at halftime, 21-18.

The second half saw the Lakers turn up the heat on defense, forcing six Bad Axe turnovers in the third quarter and outscoring the Hatchets 13-6. Lakers continued to pull away with a 15-0 run over six minutes. Only a Bad Axe three-pointer would end that streak before Lakers would add another 10 straight points.

The Green Machine was led by their tall tandem of Lucas Wehner's 17 points and Carriveau's 16. Bad Axe was paced by Blake Darnell's nine points and Mason Hurley finishing with six points. The Hatchets made just six shots in the final three quarters, all beyond the arc. They attempted just three shots inside for the entire second half, missing all of them.

Lakers now improve to 4-0 in divisional play, holding a one-game lead over Cass City. Bad Axe has lost five games in a row, searching for its first win in over a month.
