Publisher's Summary

Have you ever "felt fat"? Do you beat yourself up when one bite of cookie dough turns into eating the whole batch? Have you dieted yourself into a larger dress size? Are you frustrated because hours of exercise have produced zero results?

If you have answered yes to any of these questions, you are not alone. Studies show that 75% of women suffer from some type of eating disorder. Whether it's bingeing, bulimia, or another addiction, the good news is there is hope.

W.A.I.T.loss: The Keys to Food Freedom and Winning the Battle of the Binge is about Wendy Hendry's journey to recovery from 35 years of binge eating and food addiction. Like many others stuck in their own cerebral food prison, Wendy dieted and binged her way into obesity.

Learning the keys to physical and mindful health that she shares in her book, Wendy was able to heal her body as well as free her mind. Now a certified Health Coach and Fitness Trainer, Wendy's W.A.I.T. (What Am I Thinking?) and Click approach to recovery has helped hundreds of others find that same freedom.

Most diets teach how to lose weight, but only through changing daily habits can weight loss be maintained. Weight loss should be a natural consequence of healthy living. This book will help you find that.

W.A.I.T.loss: The Keys to Finding Food Freedom and Winning the Battle of the Binge is the perfect combination of storytelling, common sense, humor and scientific proof that recovery is possible.

If you need help with bingeing, food addiction, chronic dieting or just simple weight loss, don't W.A.I.T. any longer!

MY TAKE
I listened to the audiobook which Hendry narrated. She did a fabulous job. I'll probably listen to this again.

The book follows her journey to overcome her tendency to binge eat. As someone who's been dieting for nearly half a century, I was sympathetic to many of the things she's dealt with. She shared what she's learned through experience and study (citing reliable sources).

I like her philosophy and the relative ease of the plan she uses. Like her, I'm really busy. I don't have a lot of time for complicated processes. If it's too difficult, it ain't happening. I'm looking forward to giving this a try.

insightful

Wendy Hendry takes you through a very personal journey of mindfulness and success! Exercise is not top dog to figuring out your body chemical reaction to body changes - it's your ability to understand your brain!

relevant and attainable

Everything in this book relates to my life. The details may be different, but the experiences are the same. Wendy has lived it, therefore she understands the daily struggles with self-worth, motivation, frustration, weight loss, and overall self improvement. She offers incredible insight and examples that are real and relatable. She offers strategies that target specific brain based reactions to overcome our physical, mental, and emotional habits. She does not claim to have a "cure all," but she shares her knowledge, experiences, and strategies that helped her gain her self esteem and health. As a teacher and coach I have studied how the brain learns, but for some reason I have never applied that knowledge to self improvement and health habits. It makes perfect sense that retraining your brain concerning health habits would require the same mental processes as learning a new skill or gaining knowledge. Incredible concept. Thanks Wendy for sharing your failures and successes.

Thank-you Wendy Hendry!

I learned so many things from this book. How to be mindful, how to understand the brat and the PFC, how to understand action - habits - and addictions. I've listened to the book three times and learned something new each time. This book makes sense and is thoroughly enjoyable. I'm forever grateful. Thank-you Wendy Hendry❤️💜💚💙

Real, without victim hood , inspirational

I really appreciate the authors total transparency! I really enjoyed her her humor and yet serious top that can plague so many, Even if it's not with food . This subject of the 2 part brain should be taught at school and at home as it affects all of us at our very natures with the thousands of decisions we make everyday! Thanks Wendy!

Well written and good points and advice

Well, just like the author, I have been on many many diets and they all worked at first and then that voice starts to say, "you have done so well, it's time for a treat". And one treat leads to another and next thing you know, you have gained it all back and more. I have no problem with exercise and go to the gym 4 times a week, no matter what. It does keep me in check and I have accountability since my nutritionist is there. He designed a food plan based on my health and my needs. It's one I can live on and I do go off of it at times and this book shows me it is something most all of us do. The hope is that we can take 3 steps forward and one back, we are still ahead. In time we get better and better. I was once 270 lbs and got to 200 on weight watchers but have struggled for over 5 years until the current food plan that I can live on and do not feel deprived. I lost 25 more lbs since then and while not there yet, I am on my way. Having books like this, that I listen to over and over is a must. This book is on my top three along with Battlefield of the mind by Joyce Meyer and other such books. Well worth the price!

THE BEST DIET BOOK SO FAR

I finally found a diet book that has not been padded with pages (or listening time) of scientific information that is incomprehensible unless you have a degree in medicine. This is a wonderful book in that the ideas are clear and the narrator is the author, which means she is quite passionate about helping others. I have read many books on health and eating and the info is often repeated and sometimes conflicting. WAITloss is clear, simple and easy. I will be reading it again as it is quite short in comparison to others book of this type. Thanks you Wendy!!!!!!!!!!!!
