    Parenting 101: Discipline :: [Ep. 140]

    We’ve all been there and seen it… The parent berating their kids in the store.  There is tears, often fiery words on one side… and whining, crying, and fiery words on the other side…  you can picture the scene… It sounds cruel, harsh, and you hurry by with your grocery cart in disbelief!  That is until it is YOU and your kids!

    What parent couldn’t confess;  they’ve been so angry at the behavior of their kid they were about to lose their marbles… As a result their spouse slips into the role of trying to protect their kids from their spouses wrath in these heated moments.

    Some find themselves in a position where they do not trust themselves to discipline their kids… they have denied their parental role without leaving their home!  They believe the lie that stepping down as a dad who disciplines or a mom who asserts her authority in the home is better then showing the rage monster they become.  Is it possible to change a parents heart? From stepping back for the sake of protection, into the parent who fulfills the role God has given?

    Many a frustrated parent live pressed between the fury of their uncontrollable emotions in the heat of the moment and the recurring consequences of an undisciplined child!  This creates a special kind of friction in the marriage too.

    If you are spent on the kids; tired of having nothing left for your marriage, tune into this episode!

    The God who called me His own, the one who made me a parent IS powerful enough to help me make necessary changes to be the parent I am called to be! Find out how you can be an ally - two parents on mission for your God and the children HE gave you. In this episode, we’ll talk about how to change the posture from being stuck to taking action.  And putting our focus on the changes needed for us as adults and how they will trickle down into the lives of our children. Don't miss it!

    5 Ways to Get Through the Winter Season with Joy :: [Ep. 139]

    Ahhh the holidays. Many of us enjoy them but we also dread the end of them because that means the beginning of winter - not just with the weather and darkness but in our hearts and homes. We see the signs for sale at the store like Blessed, Joy, Hope and Peace on Earth and many of us have them on display in our living rooms but they aren’t a true reflection of what’s happening inside ourselves or our marriages.

    If you want this winter to look different or if you’re in a winter season in your marriage (where things are dormant and lifeless), we’re glad you’re here. In this episode, we’re going to share how to embrace the season ahead with 5 essential things. Tune in!

    How Thanksgiving Can Transform Your Marriage :: [Ep. 138]

    As a kid I remember one Thanksgiving tradition, when my mom or my grandma would say, “Let’s go around the table and everyone says one thing you’re grateful for.” It’s a nice gesture and an important action- showing thankfulness.

    But what does that MEAN- showing thankfulness?

    Should it be a one-time thing? An occasional “Thank you, Lord!” when we feel grateful that something happened the way we wanted it to?

    Should it be something we practice? Like “no-complain” November when you list something you’re grateful for every day of the month? Or should we take it one step further and write down 3 specific things we’re thankful for at the end of every day… for an entire year?

    Is thankfulness something we show whenever we receive something? Like writing thank you cards, or inviting people over as a way to say, “thank you”?

    Or is it something more?

    With Thanksgiving right around the corner, in this episode we are going to first spend some time remembering WHY we should be thankful. When our world, at times, seems to be falling apart, WHY should we give thanks and praise? Next, we’ll discuss how gratefulness isn’t to be limited to an occasional “Thanks, God.” Rather, it should be a way of worshipful living. HOW does that happen? What does it look like to LIVE in genuine gratitude to the Lord? And lastly, we’ll look at how worshipful living will transform our lives- and our marriages- from the inside out.

My marriage is worth it!

I’m not perfect and neither is my spouse. We both tried and almost succeeded in ruining our marriage. Then we took a new path from a secular to a biblical marriage. Marriage is already hard, but anything worth doing IS hard! Yes, my marriage is worth it! I listen to VowsToKeep as David and Tracy get real and vulnerable. They dig in and explain the truth and then how to apply it to my own marriage. Truths that any marriage can use in any season!
