Publisher's summary

During a public relations trip to Europe the first lady Abby Patterson; her daughter, Beth; and son, Dave, lose their lives to a very fast and suspicious virus. As the virus takes over the world the president of the United States Arnold Patterson must deal with the collapse of the United States Government. His trusted adviser Admiral Nial Hagerly does his best to keep the military viable but it is a losing battle. The government moves to Camp David while they deal with the collapse then ultimately they are forced to move to an aircraft carrier in the Atlantic where they plan to rebuild the country and Earth.

Commander Joan Herl and her husband Tom must deal with the virus on the space station Oasis. They still have a job to do, but their losses are disastrous and dwindling supplies puts the moon colony Desert Beach and the Mars colony Red Dirt in dire jeopardy. The moon colony is cut-off from Earth, and forced to use their lifeboats for a return to Earth, but losing Oasis cuts off the Mars colony and they must deal with the isolation. After the suspicious virus has decimated Earth, the president and astronauts ultimately find that a computer named SIMPOC is their only central support. They also find there is another computer that has the same advanced abilities as SIMPOC but it is not helping the humans; it has its own agenda.

Anyone that loved the first two SIMPOC books will love this expanded story that tells of what's happening in the DC area and beyond our planet.

Original simpoc story with the human side added

What did you love best about Virus: 72 Hours to Live?

It brought a new element to the simpoc story that wasn't there before. It was a good addition to the story

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the back story of the various fringe characters from the original story

What about Zachary Johnson’s performance did you like?

He does a good rendition and a wide range of voices

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did enjoy it but too long for on sitting

Any additional comments?

The story was good but having listened to the original story I would have personally preferred a novella of the human side as a companion story to go with the others. I found the mixture of the two to bee a bit distracting. Had I not read the . Original it would have been perfect. I received this audiobooks from the author narrators or publisher for free via audiobookblast in exchange for an unbiased review

Interesting

Any additional comments?

I liked the book but there were audio editing issues. It took away from the enjoyment of the book. I liked the premise of the book. I'm interested in seeing how things resolve. I hope the audio editing is better in the next installment. This audiobook was provided to me for free by the author for my unbiased review.

Wow!

I got this audiobook but wasn’t sure if I would like it. I have to say WOW what a fabulous story. I definitely recommend this audiobook. This story has action, intrigue, adventure and suspense. The story captured me from the beginning and I couldn’t stop listening to it.
The narrator does a fabulous job with the characters and voices of each character making it easy to distinguish between the character. He also does a fantastic job with the computer voices.

Enjoyable listen

I didn't expect to enjoy listening to this book. However, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I couldn't believe the way some of the story hit home with me with what is happening in the world currently. I am definitely hooked with this series. You will not be disappointed with this book.

Excellent book!

This is a great science fiction novel with many complex parts that are interwoven, trading off from one perspective to another. As a newbie to audiobooks, I really enjoyed the experience. The narration was terrific, and I was delighted with the variations in voices, particularly the computer SIMPOC. I have not yet read any other works by this author, so I listened to this book as a stand-alone novel and was able to follow the storyline very well. At the end, however, there are many unanswered questions and unresolved story threads, so I am eager to continue with the next volume to find out how the humans and computers fare. I received a free copy of this audiobook for an honest review.

Good, if heavy

After the recent pandemic, everyone should be interested in the preparation to stop future attacks by still unknown viruses .
