Don’t like the AI voice

The story is nice, simply and a very easy read. However, i don’t like the AI voice because it doesn’t read everything correctly with the pronunciation and tones. One of the best parts about audiobooks is the outstanding actors that read the books.

If you’re thinking about picking up Violet by Sadie King, be warned: this book left me more grossed out than entertained. 🤢📚

From the very beginning, the tone feels unsettling, but not in a clever or suspenseful way—more like the kind of uncomfortable vibe that makes you want to shut the book and wash your hands. The story leans heavily into dark and disturbing elements, and instead of building intrigue, it often just feels excessive. Scenes that are meant to be edgy or intense come across as over-the-top and downright cringe-worthy.

The main character, Violet, never really becomes someone you want to root for. Instead, she feels trapped in situations that are written to shock the reader rather than develop meaningful tension. The relationships in the book are especially hard to stomach—they feel toxic and uncomfortable in a way that made me physically recoil at times. I found myself constantly thinking, “Why am I still reading this?” 😬

Another big issue is the writing style. The dramatic moments feel forced, and some scenes are described in a way that feels messy and exaggerated. Instead of adding to the atmosphere, it just piles on more weird, grimy details that make the whole experience feel unpleasant.

By the end, I wasn’t shocked or emotionally moved—I was just relieved it was over. If the goal was to create a dark story, it definitely succeeded in being disturbing… but not in a way that felt enjoyable or meaningful.
