Publisher's summary

Sinaloa, Mexico. Haunting deserts, hot nights, and vampires who’ve been there for hundreds of years, watching from the shadows, playing their games, manipulating humans, and surviving at any cost.

Vincent Kuxim, powerful and charismatic, was made a vampire by an ambitious leader looking for soldiers to pave his way to the rule of all Mexico. But more than a century later, Vincent’s Sire is looking over his shoulder as Vincent closes in for the kill, ready to claim the title of Lord of Mexico for himself.

Lana Arnold is a bounty hunter, smart, beautiful, and determined to chart her own future. So when the most powerful vampire lord in all of North America enlists her help in tracking down a very old and elusive bloodsucker, Lana sees nothing but opportunity. There’s only one catch. The client wants her to take Vincent - a vampire she neither knows nor trusts - along on her hunt. Then again, maybe it’s herself she doesn’t trust, because Vincent Kuxim is sex walking in a pair of tight black jeans.

Thrown together by circumstance, Vincent and Lana soon find themselves battling an evil they didn’t know existed, in a fight that makes Vincent all the more determined to destroy his Sire and seize Mexico for himself - and keep Lana by his side forever.

Good listening

I thoroughly enjoyed this story as I have all the previous ones. However Nick Russo’s voice of Vincent was exceptionally good. Nicely done!

Vincent and Lana

Before I begin this review I have to tell you that despite loving Vampire Stories I had never read or listened to any of the Vampires In America Series. That is a situation I intend to address very quickly.

From the opening lines of this book I was hooked. The storyline was so engrossing I found myself hating when I had to stop listening, the main characters Vincent and Lana are both so strong and so "I don't need anyone else to be happy" personalities that it was fun seeing them succumb to each other.

Lana is a human bounty hunter who has been hired to do a job by Raphael, a very powerful North American Vampire. But a condition of the job is that she has to enlist the help of Vincent, she is given a letter to give to him, which once he reads commits Vincent to going with her to find a very old Vampire some people believe to be just a ghost.

Vincent is a very powerful vampire, he's Lt. to Enrique Lord of Mexico, he's second in command, he is also the polar opposite of Enrique. But the day is coming when Vincent will have to step up and become the Lord of Mexico himself or die trying. The attraction between Lana and Vincent is instant but Lana will not allow herself to succumb to Vincent's great charm. Did I tell you that in addition to being powerful he's also physically perfect with a body and charm which leaves all other males, vampire and human wanting? During the course of their journey things change drastically when Lana gets to see the real Vincent beneath the exterior he shows to the world at large and Vincent discovers just what sort of human he is dealing with in Lana.

Vincent discovers that Enrique has done something so terrible things are going to have to change and change quickly. Their original mission is put on hold whilst Vincent, with Lana's help deals with the terrible situation they find themselves in. I would love to tell you more but it would totally spoil the book for you.

What I can say without dong that is that this book has everything, it has action, intrigue, mystery, happiness, great sadness together with great love and loyalty. I truly hated it when this book came to an end. There were some very good secondary characters who I thought helped make the book one of them being Vincent's own Lt Michael. I don't know if he has his own story but I hope he does.

Whitst writing this review I have to say how much I enjoyed the performance given by Nick J Russo in the telling of this story, his voice and the internations he gave to each of the characters were without fault and really added to my enjoyment of this wonderful story.

I was gifted a copy of this book and am voluntarily writing my review.

Recommended by my cat... And Me!

Vincent Book 8, but my first time listening to the series. I have to say that I very much enjoyed listening... and so did my cat. Let's go through the cat'o'meter!

On the Happy Cat Scale!
Romance - 🐱🐱🐱🐱!
Action - 🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱!
Fun - 🐱🐱🐱🐱!
Audio/Narration - 🐱🐱🐱🐱!
Evil Villain - muahahaha... 🐺 Let's just say there is more than one big bad wolf.

I am glad I didn't have to read previous books in order to follow this one. However, I will be going back to the beginning of the series out of curiosity and excitement from listening to this book.

I love Vincent and his voice

It's been a while since I fell in love with a vampire, it feels good. I love Vincent, loved his story. He is a charmer for sure, with a big heart but badass when the situation cals for. What a twist when he finds out who his sire is and how his brother died. His chemistry with Lana is off the charts, but I liked that their relationship was building slowly. Lana is a kickass woman and doesn't put up with any BS from any of the men she comes in contact with including her Father. Ms. Reynolds was recommended by quite a few of my friends and with this she got me hooked. It can be read/listen to as a standalone, but I will have to get the other stories now.

Mr. Russo is a new narrator for me and I think he did a great job in telling this story, his voice is one I could listen to for hours... and I did, finished this in one day :D I am looking forward to hear him in the other stories too.
