You can't beat the classics

Nobody wrote horror quite like the Victorians. It's the kind of fear that is so intangible - you cannot banish it if you tried. Can't complain about the narration either. Only wished it was longer!

Choice of stories needs sorting

The narrations and slight background music/effects are wonderful. My disappointment is with the choice of stories. I had read/listened to most of these before encountering this anthology but that was not a deal-breaker in itself. One was absurdly short and another was a comedy. So in all the experience wasn’t the thrill I had anticipated. Then again, if terrific narration is all you are looking for - which admittedly in most instances is the most essential component of an audiobook of my choosing - don’t hesitate. I would certainly give the second collection of these Victorian anthologies a listen if only the selection of stories is more thrilling or chilling as advertised, whilst keeping the narrative quality at this stellar level.
