Publisher's summary

The plague was born from hope.

It was meant to change the world. To cure the incurable and rebuild the broken. In the right hands, the organism known as Chimera had the potential to alter the course of human civilization for the better.

Instead it was abused, rushed. The resulting outbreak caused the dead to rise and shattered everything man had built.

When the world ended, the weight of its dead fell on the shoulders of the man at the heart of it all. For Kell McDonald, survival is not enough. Alone and surrounded by enemies, he must find a way to do what only he can: find a cure, and perhaps redemption.

Brilliant beginning then someone else took a turn?

What did you like best about Victim Zero? What did you like least?

This was one of the best, most creative and exciting begginings to a zombie apocalypse I've heard. Then the story of survival started and the brilliance disappeared. I'm not sure but I do believe whoever the masterful story teller was who started this book fell down after he/she finished a couple chapters and hit their head on a hard surface. The main character survives in time warped periods of time. This might help put chapters in a book and move a story along but it took away from the hardships and survival that makes a zombie apocalypse enjoyable.

Fantastic

I read Victim Zero when it was first published and really enjoyed the story line. Kell is such an interesting character. I have a strong science background and that made it even more interesting for me. I thought that hearing the audio wouldn't be much different than reading the book and I was surprised at how many details I had missed. The audio was excellent and really brought me into the story.

Amazing story

Full of action and emotions. Narrator Joseph Morton ♡ made me forget I was listening to one person. Great actor. Great WRITING! And narration!!! It isn't just about the consequences of man tampering with viruses. ♡(。-ω-) Each character, their lives, emotions are unique. Towards the end I found myself eager to find out, what on earth is the virus mutating into!! (*/ω\)-!! I gotta have all the books! (⊙_⊙)

Not sure what to say about this book

I'm not sure if I'm just tired of apocalyptic books or if this one was just that boring. It started out good and with a bang but then I just kept zoning out. I didn't finish the book. Again, not sure if it was the book or me.

Decent

The performance doesn't help the story. He's not horrible or annoying, but he just doesn't add to it. He's not dynamic. His reading is pretty flat.

The story is decent. It's an interesting premise and the characters are ok. They could use more fleshing out in the personality department. They're very lacking in personality.

I'm going to go ahead with book 2 in the hopes that they evolve.

It eventually became interesting.

A slow build-up, but eventually coming to a novel of interest and action. Once Kell got settled in to the community with Kate and Laura things began to gel. Dealing with his guilt over the pandemic that infected people everywhere was a full-time affair, but Kell was beginning to deal with the survivors as well. In the end Kell, Kate and Laura took off to start again on their own. It took awhile, but I believe the story was worth the time expended.
