In the second book in the New York Times bestselling mystery series, Veronica Mars is back with a case that will expose the hidden workings of one of Neptune’s most murderous locations.

The Neptune Grand has always been the seaside town’s ritziest hotel, despite the shady dealings and high-profile scandals that seem to follow its elite guests. When a woman claims that she was brutally assaulted in one of its rooms and left for dead by a staff member, the owners know that they have a potential powder keg on their hands. They turn to Veronica to disprove—or prove—the woman's story.

The case is a complicated mix of hard facts, mysterious occurrences, and uncooperative witnesses. The hotel refuses to turn over its reservation list and the victim won’t divulge who she was meeting that night. Add in the facts that the attack happened months ago, the victim’s memory is fuzzy, and there are holes in the hotel’s surveillance system, and Veronica has a convoluted mess on her hands. As she works to fill in the missing pieces, it becomes clear that someone is lying—but who? And why?

I know Kristen Bell wasn't available but this narrator sounded dead. There was no vocal variety. She never sounded excited or sarcastic. It sounded like a bored person reading out loud. The storyline however was lovely and I wish the series would continue.

Wrong Narrator

Kristen Bell should have been the reader. This person was too slow and didn't seem to be familiar with the characters.

Had to change the speed

If you're a fan of Veronica Mars you'll love it. If you're not familiar with the series you will still be intrigued by the story and characters. I was initially disappointed that this one wasn't narrated by Kristen Bell, but the narrator did a good job! She had very big shoes to fill. I was very happy that Logan was included more in this novel and that we got a little of his backstory in the 9 years that we missed. I can't wait for the third novel and really hope that Rob Thomas doesn't stop there :)

Great :)

I dont normally read this type if book, but since I enjoyed the series and movie, I thought I would enjoy listening to this story. Truly met my expectations and more. Hoping for another!

Excellent Story

This narrator turns a decent story into a poor story. She needs coffee or meth. No emotion in her voice. Very slow speaking and too even toned to get into the story like the other book. The narrator drowns on like a middle school history teacher. I was bored from the get go.

Poor choice for narrator
